You opened your eyes very slowly and delicately, father told you to always look grateful for when you were to be wed. However, once you focused on your surroundings, you realised that there was no need for gracefulness or delicacy where you were. Manners and civility were almost frowned upon here. You pushed away the absurd amount of furs covering your body and sat up in the comfy bed.

You looked around in a hazy state as memories from the previous night flooded your mind. Pirates had invaded your town, you had been given away by your father and an arrogant pirate had taken you to his chambers. Although you don't remember falling asleep in a bed at all...

You quickly shifted your attention to the empty bed next to you, a sigh of relief escaped your lips when you saw no one was there. That raised a question though: where was the captain? You had always been an early riser so it came as a surprise — a pleasant one of course — to see that you were in fact in Captain Dazai's bed without a Captain Dazai. Your (e/c) hues shifted around the room and they stopped on a dark figure sitting on the desk. Brown disheveled curls, tall slender figure, that was him no doubt about it.

"Mornin' princess." The captain's playful voice echoed throughout the silent room, it gave you goosebumps. "Didn't take you for a morning bird."

Goodness he was getting on your last nerve. Not for the kidnapping — although that wasn't an overseen factor — but just because his very essence felt offensive to you. He was so smug and full of himself, you simply despised him.

"Didn't Atsushi tell you? Missing such a detail after having him following my every move for a month is quite discouraging." Despite your groggy voice you managed to add both venom and sarcasm to the retaliation. "And here I thought he was an honest young lad who told you everything."

"I would never ask Atsushi to do such a thing!" He answered as if offended, "After all a lady must have her secrets."

You ignored him before something struck you. "I never fell asleep on the bed, did I?" You eyed him suspiciously.

"Oh, that? I put you on the bed not long after you began snoring. You were about to die from the cold so I took the liberty to undress you and place you under the warm furs."

"You brute!" Only then did you notice you were wearing nothing but your undergarments and hurriedly began covering yourself with the furs. "You should be ashamed of yourself, undressing a lady without her consent."

"I'm sorry M'lady but you denied me when I asked and I do not want you to kick the bucket just yet."

"And why is that?" You asked suspiciously.

"I already told you princess, that jewel is important to us."

"The one I have around my neck or the one my father loves more than me?"

He wore a bittersweet grin. "Both."

The quarters were overtaken by silence as neither of you felt the need to speak up for a while.

Dazai was the first to say something, "I asked doctor Yosano to lend you'd one of her clothes, se obliged after persuading her with the promise of new ones so be sure to thank her later." He handed you a pile of clean garments. "You'll be wearing them for a couple of days so be sure to keep them clean enough."

And with that he left.

...

After getting dress you went to the galley in search for food, there you found the man from yesterday, whose name — if memory serves you well — is Kunikida.

"Here, eat." He pushed a plate of bread and (poached?) eggs in you direction.

"You need a healthy dose of protein to start your day, it will give you enough energy to survive this crew." You seemed to hear the follow up comment 'I hope.' But you ignored it.
