"Here we are ladies and gents: bienvenidos a Isla Vida!" The captain cheered at the top of his lungs.

"Um... Captain Dazai?"

"Yes, Atsushi?"

The young boy twiddled his fingers, "I was wondering, doesn't ' vida ' mean life?"

"Why yes it does, my friend."

"Then why aren't there any people in sight?" He stared matter-of-factly. And he was right! Upon reaching the shores of the fairly large island you had encountered no life whatsoever, not a house nor a person. How odd.

"Oh that? That's because Isla Vida has one town and one town only, it is known as ' La Ciudad del Pueblo '."

"The town of the people." You interrupted without noticing. A number of eyes turned to you, making you blush red. "Roughly translated that is."

"You know the native language?" Kunikida inquired.

"When I finished the English books in my library I got invested in foreign literature."

"My my, and may I ask if there are other secret languages our princess kept hidden?" The captain asked interested.

You narrowed your gaze, "Firstly, it wasn't a secret, you simply never bothered to ask. Secondly, yes. I know quite a few languages."

"I should start calling you 'La Mia Bella', shouldn't I?"

" Fallo e ti prometto che ti farò rimpiangere il momento in cui sei nato ."

Dazai seemed almost impressed, " Come desideri, Principessa. "

"M'I the only one who has no idea what they're talking about?" Jun'ichiro snapped you out of your trance, you hadn't noticed you'd been staring at the captain as he spoke in Italian.

"We were just discussing our private love affair-"

He didn't have time to finish the sentence that you wacked him on the back of the head so hard he fell flat on his face. "We were not!"

And in an instant you had realised what you had done. Your face lost all colour as you slapped both hands over your mouth and spoke quiet prayers. You had just hit Osamu Dazai, Captain of the Vagabond pirates, one of the most dangerous crews of the entire Eastern world. And you'd just walked him silly. You. Were. Dead.

Everyone went silent. A pin drop could have been heard as would have been as loud as the sound of a thousand dogs barking.

And then half of them doubled over laughing.

"Not bad, kid." Kunikida patted you on the back in an almost friendly way— key word being almost. "I can't believe you knocked him on the ground on the first go, it usually takes at least a week to know him enough to do that."

"You know, you all should be helping the injured instead of praising the injuree."

"That's not a word Cap-"

"Just help me up, will ya?"

Atsushi extended his hand and helped the captain get back on his feet.

You were still frozen in shock at the fact that they had all laughed it off as if it was nothing. You had prayed to the old gods and the new for him to forgive you without you apologising, who knew it would work?

"Don't make that face Princess, it's unfitting of a lady." A wry smile darted in the captain's face. "Although I must say, you aren't exactly dressed like one either."

This time you were the one to shoot him a dirty look. "And whose fault is that?"

"As much as I would enjoy being here to witness a second beating, we are on a tight schedule and I believe we're already late." Kunikida interrupted.
