                                                 Chapter 4

Katherine awoke with a groan as she reached out across the empty bed feeling for Ethan. When she felt nothing she quickly sat up nervous that he had left. When it dawned on her that she was at his place. Just as she was about to get up to go look for him the door opened and in walked Ethan. He was only in a pair of grey sweatpants as he walked into the room kicking the door gently closed. He held a rather large tray in his hands and walked towards the bed as he lowered it.

“Good morning beautiful” he said with a smile as Katherine scooted up against the head board pulling the sheets around her. Ethan set the tray down on Katherine’s lap it standing just a few inches above her legs. There was eggs, bacon, hash browns, pancakes, and a muffin. There was also orange juice, milk and tea.

“I wasn’t sure what you would be in the mood for” Ethan said nervously running a hand through his hair. Katherine just closed her eyes and breathed in deeply.

“It looks delicious Ethan thank you” she said as she leaned forward slowly so that she didn’t spill the food and gave Ethan a gentle kiss before laying back. Katherine began to eat the food practically melting in her food when it hit her.

“Shit! I’m going to be late for work” she said as she started to get up but Ethan laughed and stopped her.

“Its ok love I called in for you. I thought that maybe we could spend the day together I wanted to show you something.” He said with a gentle caress of her face in his hands before standing and heading to the closet.

“I had one of my men buy some clothes for you. I think I got all the right sizes down.” He said as he pulled a pair of tight white pants down with beige patches on the knees. He then grabbed a pair of beige boots and laid them down next to the black t-shirt he pulled out.

“I thought I could maybe take you out to the ranch today.” He smiled pulling out his own cloths. Katherine smiled but inside her stomach flipped. She didn’t know how to ride a horse and she was freaking out on the inside.

“Sounds fun” she said trying to hold her composure. Ethan didn’t seem to notice her fear thankfully and decided to go ahead and get ready.

“Take your time eating honey….or if you’re done you can join me in the shower” he teased as he walked inside the bathroom. Katherine blushed a scarlet red and just kept her eyes on her food as Ethan pulled off his pants.

The gravel crunched under the tires of the SUV as they pulled up the long drive to Ethan’s country home. The road was surrounded by trees for at least two miles but then suddenly it burst into wide open space. There was so much space it seemed to stretch around the house in all directions for at least ten miles.

Ethan smiled as he helped Katherine from the car and admired her in the cloths he had picked out. Katherine took a deep breath loving the fresh air and the privateness of the place.

“It’s really beautiful here Ethan” she whispered as she leaned against him. Ethan kissed the top of her head as he walked with her to the front door. Inside of the home it was much smaller than Ethan’s mansion but still large enough to call a family home. Katherine could already see children running through the long hallway to the kitchen giggling as they did.

She could see a young girl that mirrored her paleness but had long beautiful brown hair taking after Ethan but she had sea foam green eyes just like Katherine. She smiled lost in thought until Ethan stepped in front of her.
