                                Chapter 12

Ethan jerked awake to distant screams and tried to immediately jump to his feet but found out he could barely move. His head was pounding, his heart racing but most importantly he was bound to a chair in a dark room. The screams were far off but he didn’t need them to be right next to him to know who’s they belonged too.

“LET HER GO!!!” Ethan shouted at the top of his lungs as he fought hard against the ropes binding his wrists.

“It’s no use….” A voice whispered sadly beside him.

“Ry...Ryan is that you” Ethan stuttered out in shock still that he could get them into so much trouble.

“Ya man it’s me….im so sorry I never meant for this I was just trying to help Kat and then they told me they would kill her if I didn’t-“Ethan cut him short.

“You should have trusted that I could protect her Ryan now look what you have done!” Ethan shouted at him.

“I’m sorry they….they had someone on the phone and they were talking to him saying kill her and my head was fuzzy I was dehydrated and I broke I fucking broke man. After all the things we have been through I broke. I am so sorry ill figure out a way to get us out of here I promise.” Ryan pleaded.

Ethan huffed unsure of what to say as he just kept trying to pull against the ropes only causing them to cut into his skin.

“PLEASE STOP!!” Katherine screamed at Brian as he drop kicked her in the back once more.

“You thought you could just leave me…HA you will never leave me and if you are so adamant about it maybe I should just kill you now” Brian spat out at her as he knelt down beside her weeping frame.

“I…I’m sorry it won’t happen again…I promise…..I love you Brian” Katherine managed to get out feeling bile rise in the back of her throat. She raised a shaking hand up to cup his face to seem sincere but he pushed it away.

“You think I’m that stupid Kate” He mocked her with a laugh.

“Of course not…I…I meant I will get better ill stop seeing them I’ll never see anyone but you again I promise” Katherine wept to him as she struggled to get to her knees.

Brian stared straight ahead looking out the window not bothering to help her. Katherine struggled to get to her feet but finally after several attempts managed. She places her shacking hands on his shoulders and gently touched his back with her face.

Brian sighed before turning around and cupping her face gently with both hands staring lovingly into her eyes.

“You make me crazy Kate do you know that?” He whispered before brushing a strand of hair behind her ear.

Katherine stared back into his eyes trying to force them to show love even though all she wanted to do was fall to the ground and weep.

The sound of metal scraping and wood cracking echoed around the room before a bright light was flipped on. They were in a cellar probably in the basement and Ethan couldn’t help but cringe as he stared around the room noticing all the tools hanging on the wall that looked like they could gut him.

“You like them….I plan on using them on your little trader friend here later” Chris says with a wicked grin as he pulls over a chair in front of Ethan.

“I will kill you” Ethan whispers between gritted teeth.

“Ya I know you think you will and that’s cute but let’s just stop with the threatening and get down to business” Chris says before pulling out a thick stack of paper.

“These are forms and you are to sign them all or I will personally make sure that for every one you don’t sign Katherine will be losing a piece of her body” Chris says before laying the stack of paper in Ethan’s lap and undoing one of his wrists.

Ethan glares at him wanting nothing more than to kill him right then and there but he has no clue where he is or where Kat is. He grabs the pen from Chris’s hand and begins to sign the papers. Ryan stares over at him and Chris seeing that Chris is completely focused on Ethan. He has almost worked his wrist free now and spots a screwdriver close to his foot. He places his foot over it discreetly as he keeps working the rope.

Ethan is on the tenth paper when he hears a snap and jerks his head over to Ryan just in time to see him jump up and shove what appears to be a screwdriver into Chris’s side. Chris screams in agony before stumbling backwards.

“You stupid son of a bitch” He shouts before pulling out his gun and aiming it right at Ryan.

“NOOOOO!” Ethan shouts lunging forward tackling Chris to the ground and knocking the gun out of his hand the chair breaking around them.

Ryan leans over to the wall next to him and grabs a knife cutting himself loose. Chris punches Ethan in the face turning over and climbing on top of Ethan. Ethan digs his fingers into Chris’s wound causing him to shriek and fall backwards. Ethan scrambles to his feet and grabs the gun pointing it at Chris.

“Here ill watch him go find Kat I got him” Ryan says before jerking Chris to his feet and slamming him down into the empty chair before beginning to bind him to it. Ethan takes one last look at them before heading out the door and slowly down the hall.

He can hear voices down the hall sounding like people laughing and celebrating only making him sick to his stomach. Ethan begins to turn the corner but sees a figure out of the corner of his eye causing him to jump back. He slowly peeks around the corner and his heart falls as he sees none other than Leon standing at the end of the hall chatting with another one of Chris’s men.
