"That's not exactly how it happened, and these cuffs are killing my wrists!" I said. "Besides, it was an accident."
"Well," Officer Jim said. "I'm waiting. Tell me how it happened."
"It's like this... Me and Jenna."
"Jenna and I, but continue," Jim said.
"We went to the store, and the son of a bitch came out of nowhere."
"And you expect me to believe that?" Jim said.
"I don't know what else to tell you, sir."
"Who's that?"
"Who's Who?" I scooted in front of the officer.
"The backseat. Who's in the backseat?"
I blew out my lips. "Your daughter."
"My Jenna?" the cop shouted.
"Look, we're in love, and..."
"No way in hell I'm letting someone like you ruin her life."
Jenna pops out of the car, slamming the door shut. "Dad, we're together, and that's that."
"And there's no changing your mind?"
Jenna shook her head. "Not on your life."
"Mom's going to be..."
"Disappointed, I know."
"And you want your mother to hate you?"
"It's my life, and I'll live it the way I want to." Jenna motioned. "Now uncuff Ben."
Officer Jim sighed. "As you wish."
"Daddy, we're having a baby." Jenna shrugged. "It was an accident."
"I knew it," Jim said. "And you're..."
"Yes, Dad. I'm keeping it."
Jim threw his hands in the air. "Okay." Jim removed the handcuffs. "We'll just pretend this whole accident thing didn't happen."
