Addicted to Panic

The old farmhouse was quiet.
Indeed, I dare say silent.
A mistress I messed with liked it.
She threw my clothes on the front lawn
She pawned the diamond ring
Try it, she'd say.
We'd play with each other's emotions,
seeking the depth of devotion.
Searching for what it meant to be me
She cries the loudest when no one's listening
Nightfall suffocates the light with its shadows
Beneath the bare birch tree
Tears of her's I rarely see
In late September
It's either now or whenever
Whether she comes or goes
I'll take my chances
A knock on the door
She's back
Never lie
I said I'd try
