I stared at the headline in disbelief. My father almost died

I looked up at the Director for confirmation.

"Large amounts of carbon monoxide were found in the air the night of the attempted murder. Your father is very lucky to be alive," apparently, this wasn't the end of the story. "I have reason to believe that the same people who targetted your father also targetted your mother a few weeks back. I believe you are the next on their list. You must be very careful, Miss Panzer. We don't know who we're dealing with. Until we do, tread lightly," he warned.

"Why do you think they're going after me and my family?" I asked.

"There are people out there that are not fans of superpowered people, and there are rumors of groups dedicated to ridding the world of supers. I believe one of these groups is after you. Until we confirm this, you are forbidden to leaving the premises, and you must be back in your dorm room by curfew. I will have people watching to make sure you follow these guidelines, and if you don't, I will know. You may return to your dorm,"

I set the file down on his desk, standing up shakily and walking out.

"Hey. You alright?" Steve asked, standing back up with a concerned look etched into his face.

 "Did you know?" I hissed.

"Tessa--" he started.

"People are trying to kill my family, and the thought to maybe tell me never crossed your mind?" I growled.

I was beyond angry. My family was being threatened and no one bothered to tell me.

"Fury forbade us from telling you. I'm sorry, Tess. I wanted to tell you, I really did," he said, grabbing my arm.

I wrenched my arm out of his grasp, which was pretty damn difficult 'cause Steve was, you know, a Super Soldier

"Arschhut. Lass mich alleine," I snarled, storming outside and forming an invisible string between me and Ellie. Using her powers, I went to the roof and sat down before disconnecting the line. I huffed, glaring at the ground.

"Bad day?" I turned, seeing Loki approaching me.

"What are you doing up here?" I asked.

"Escaping them. What are you doing up here?" he replied.

"Cooling off," I said, facing back towards the woods surrounding the school.

"From?" he asked.

"Some arschlöcher have been trying to kill my family and are after me, and no one bothered to inform me," I growled.

"I thought you didn't like your family," he pointed out.

"That doesn't mean I want them dead!" I exclaimed.

"How did they try?" he asked.

"Carbon monoxide. Now I've got watchdogs following me around because I can't leave the campus and have to be back in my dorm by ten," I said.

"So you're being babysat," he summarized, and I huffed.

"Basically," an alarm started going off, Loki straightening up.

"7 blares. Odessy Protocol," he said, grabbing my arm and teleporting us to the ground.

"What? Wh--" I started.

"It means you run! Get as far away as you can!" he shouted, taking off back towards the school. I joined all the other students booking it towards the woods, eventually joining up with Ian.

"Come on! I know somewhere we can go," she panted, clearly not very good at cardio. We made it to a bus stop, hopping on and going as far away as we could. Eventually, we ended up in some sort of park, panting and collapsing on a bench.

"What do we do now?" I asked.

"Wait until it's safe to return to school. I grabbed a radio on the way out, so we have a way to contact them," just as she said that, a tranq dart when into her neck, and there was a pain in mine before everything went dark.
