Remus found himself in the field surrounding the Black Lake

Remus found himself in the field surrounding the Black Lake. The weather was unusually warm and the sun beat down on his bare arms.

He looked down in surprise. He seldom wore short sleeves. His arms showed off some pretty bad scars, and Remus hated it, thinking he looked like a tomcat who had lost a fight.

He forgot about his arms as a flash of pink and dark brown sped past him. He couldn't make out who it was. A girl with dark hair, for sure. But he knew plenty of girls like that. Her laugh spread throughout the grounds as she lowered her speed.

When she turned to face him, he was shocked at the grin that took over his face. Remus ran towards her and engulfed her in a hug.

She giggled into the fabric of his shirt.

She pulled back first, and he brought his hands to her face. Her skin was soft, and she leaned into his touch.

Anastasia.

She wore a flowy pink sundress, and her hair was pulled back in a way that showed her big grey eyes. She had kicked off her shoes moments before.

She looked so foreign to him. Sure, this girl had Anastasia's features, but the Anastasia he knew wasn't this happy or carefree. She was quite the opposite. She didn't have the same vibrance in her eyes or the same wide smile.

Remus woke up cold. Anastasia's cheery laughs turned into the dull sound of James' snores. The deep green of the field melted into the pitch black that filled his dormitory. He squeezed his eyes shut.
That was weird.

He pulled his quilt closer and was surprised to find himself disappointed.

As the days inched closer and closer to Christmas break, Ana dreaded seeing her mother more and more.

The woman had sent yet another letter on Sirius' birthday but hadn't even mentioned the occasion, instead reminding them that all three children were to be home for Christmas this year. She didn't even sign her name on the end.

The girl knew how angry she would be, with all three of her children going against her wishes. Sirius' usual antics, Regulus' quidditch 'accident,' Ana's dropping grades, and Goyle situation were not a very good mix. Walburga Black was bound to be furious. It was just a question of who she would direct her anger at, if not all three of them.

Sirius usually bared the brunt of her harshness. He angered her the most, with his Gryffindor tie and long, unkempt hair. Ana suspected that it would be different this time. Regulus usually never went against his parent's wishes, let alone in such a public way.
