"Well, excuse me," Lexi commented, turning her body around and lying down- placing her head on Erwin's lap as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
"Pfft-"
Various held-back snickers and looks of envy were shot at Erwin as Lexi closed her eyes and placed her clasped hands on her stomach. I can't tell if she's fearless or just plain crazy, I thought to myself, snickering at Erwin's confused and flustered face.
"I'll be taking a quick nap, so please wake me up when we're almost there," She requested.
The sound of horses' feet clopping against the road filled the carriage as everyone fell into silence. A silence that lasted about two minutes, of course.
"So Erwin, what'd the shortstack say? We saw you getting socked in the face, but that was about it." I started, directing an interested smirk to the blonde.
"You mean Levi? He made me promise her safety."
"......Aww. That's so sweet!!"
"For now, let's focus on making Lexi's court case a success. The MP's are most likely planning on turning her into a witch or some sort of threat to humanity- if they don't get her for themselves. The nobles want her to be their personal doctor, and seeing her looks, the chances of them trying to get her for their other desires is high as well." Erwin said.
"So what's the plan?" I questioned.
"Our best point is the fact that our death rate is the highest among the military. We can argue that we can save more people in the battlefield if we get Lexi. As well, I plan on not taking her with us on Expeditions unless necessary."
"How will she help the injured if she's not even with us?" Shadis grunted.
"Once she joins, I plan on making her Captain of her own squad. She'll hand-pick recruits and teach them her medical knowledge."
"So you're making use of her by increasing the number of doctors... that's a great idea!!" I shouted, excited to learn.
"If she ever needs to leave on an Expedition with us, she'll be placed with the strongest soldiers at one of the safer positions. Her squad members will be separated into groups of two and placed at various points of the formation." Erwin continued to explain.
"There is only one of the Miracle Doctor, after all. By letting her teach others, we can increase the number of Doctors on-site- and therefore decreasing the mortality rate. But in order to do so, we need Lexi." Erwin finished, looking down at the female in his lap- only to notice a pair of lavender eyes staring back at him.
Erwin flinched, and Lexi sat up from her position.
"Doctors aren't omnipotent, Erwin. We're human like everyone else. I can't save anyone without people knowing and administering proper first aid. I need materials and tools for surgeries, treating wounds, and making medicine. So the question is, can you get me the things I need?"
"It'll be hard due to-"
"I'm not talking about how hard it is to acquire materials. It's a simple yes or no answer."
.....Lexi's laid back and casual at times, but she's also demanding when required. She knows her worth and knows how to use her strengths to get the things she needs. I like her. I thought to myself, grinning.
"...Yes. I can get the materials."
"As for teaching others, I'll do it. But we're going by my rules. Not yours. You may control the Survey Corps, but in the field of medicine, I'm the boss. Am I clear?"
"Very well."
"Good. Now I have some questions about materials available here."
My first impression of Lexi was a light-hearted, funny person despite the vast amount of knowledge she was said to possess. A tad on the violent side, but judging by what little I knew of her through our short time together, I could tell that she could read and understand people's psychology and anticipate their reactions better than anyone I knew- maybe even better than Erwin.
The difference was that Erwin chose to gamble using the information he had. Lexi constantly analyzed, collected, and came up with ways to use the information to manipulate others and gain the best results. She made back-up plans upon back-up plans, and I couldn't help but marvel at her mental prowess.
The fact that she would soon be standing in the Throne room facing nobles and the King himself didn't seem to faze her at all. Instead, she gathered information about the nobles and the things that she could do with available materials and her knowledge and skills. No doubt to manipulate them into letting her do what she within the Survey Corps.
