Confession (14)

Third Pov

After their rather sweet dance session, Lexi and Levi stared up into the night sky, stargazing. With each other's body heat and the sturdy blanket placed over them, the cool night air did little to affect the two.

Interestingly enough, the star constellations of the AoT world were the same as Lexi's modern world. Of course, she jumped at the chance to spill some juicy Greek-Roman myths.

"So? What's your opinion on Zeus, now that you found out about his backstory?" Lexi asked, an amused, teasing smile on her lips.

At this point, the two adults had shared an entire bottle of wine between them, along with some rum. They were intoxicated, but not so much that they didn't have their wits about them.

"Zeus is a fucking bastard. He fucking married his older sister (Hera) for one, but then had the balls to cheat on her endlessly. Why marry her at all?" Levi grunted.

Lexi laughed at his vulgar response, enjoying the wonderfully lit skies. Everything seemed so peaceful. Despite the numerous deaths and tragedy that was looming closer with every passing second, the world was as calm and peaceful as it could be.

Lexi didn't want it to end.

Would she be asking too much if she wished to just live a simple, happy life with Levi?

Lexi turned to her side, staring fondly at Levi's features. She started from his longish black hair that lay over the blanket, travelling down to his relaxed eyebrows and sparkling, stormy-grey eyes. Her lavender-coloured eyes followed the sharp line of his nose, then jaw, before finally resting on his lips.

Lexi was brought out of her ogling when Levi turned to face her from his lying position on the ground beside her. Their eyes met, the two staring at each other with an atmosphere that could only be described as intense (but rather cute) sexual tension.

For one blissful moment, everything seemed perfect.

Just the two of them under the beautiful night sky, warm and content and happy.

The moment their lips met, Levi regretted his actions. He was sure that Lexi would pull away, and not even give him the answer now.

His eyes widened when Lexi gently kissed him back.

But before they could do anything else, Lexi pulled away with a panicked, fearful look on her face. As though she hadn't been supposed to kiss him. She evaded his gaze with a blush on her face, and awkwardly shuffled away from him.

"U-um, I'm going- I'm going to go to the washroom." She stuttered, before hurrying away.

Levi watched Lexi leave with jumbled feelings in his chest. She was sending mixed signals. Did she really like him back, and had kissed him out of a brief moment of lost self-control?

Or was it all an act, made to tie him to her under the false pretense of love?

"Idiot, idiot, idiot...!!!" Lexi whispered angrily to herself, grabbing at her hair violently.

She speed-walked away from the cliff, ignoring the hot and uncomfortable blush on her cheeks. As the distance between her and Levi grew, Lexi broke out into a run.

"Why would you kiss him?! I mean, he's beautiful, and wonderful, and- and I love him, but..."

She had to admit to herself that it was horrible timing. Horrible timing, and a horrible decision. The fact that she had enjoyed the brief moment of contact didn't matter. Lexi just had to wait one day. One fucking day, so that she could make a final decision and come to terms with her own feelings in the process.

By the time Levi learns of his two best friends' brutal endings, he would realize that she had let them die. If he still wanted her even after that, then Lexi would gladly tell the truth. If he didn't, however... then Lexi would keep her distance.

Lexi took in deep, harsh breaths of the cool, crisp night air as she stood utterly alone in the dark woods. The cliff that she had emerged from was now nothing but a small speck in the distance. She stared at the towering wall of earth and forced her mind to calm down. What was done was done, and she couldn't change the past.

Lexi began to walk back, relaxing her troubled mind.

-CRACK!!

Just as she whipped her head around to see who had made the noise, a strong, calloused hand grabbed her forearm. Lexi found herself struggling to breathe as a much taller, larger male pulled her into a chokehold from behind.

The fresh scent of pine and sandalwood pierced her lungs as Lexi fought violently.

I AM BACK!!

Well, kind of. I now have two weeks of high school left. Yay.

Updates will be slow until I heal up? Get better? completely.

Also, there aren't that many chapters left until the expedition now. About time, right? Haha.
