Song of the chap!!

The first sheet of paper was for Lexi. The second was for Furlan and the last for Isabel. I wrote down my last wishes and words, pouring out everything that I wanted to tall them without filter. I had nothing to hide, as these would be my last words if I died during the expedition. I would get my letters back if I did return, so I had no worries about the information on the pieces of paper leaking out.
Some soldiers were on the verge of tears, sniffling as they wrote their letters and signed the envelopes.
The finished ones were handed to Commander Shadis, who signed the letters. The signed letters were then handed to Hange, who folded the paper neatly into three sections and placed them in the signed envelopes. The envelopes were then handed off to Erwin, who sealed it with red wax and a stamp with the wings of freedom engraved in it before putting it in a large, empty crate to be stored.
At this point, most of the preparations for the party were done.
The dining hall, usually filled with tables and benches, had been emptied out to make what I assumed was the dance floor. A huge bonfire was prepared in the middle of the courtyard, some oil and matches ready to light the stack of wood on fire. The smell of food wafted through the air as the kitchen began to finish up cooking dinner.
Bright lanterns lit up the outside and inside of the cafeteria building as the sun began to set, the bonfire being lit to provide more light and warmth. Handing my stack of letters and envelopes off to Shadis and Hange, I made sure that the damn four-eyes weren't sneaking a peek at its contents before heading off to join up with Furlan and Isabel.
"HELLOOOOOOOO, SURVEY CORPS!!!" A loud, cheery voice called out, catching everyone's attention.
"ARE!! YOU!!! READY!! TO LIVE YOUR LAST DAY ALIVE!!!" Lexi hollered, a confident smile on her face.
My jaw dropped.
Lexi was wearing what I could only describe as beautiful and extremely provocative, her pretty face adorned with light makeup. A male in a black-and-white suit stood beside her, holding a guitar. A female sat behind the weirdest contraption that I had ever seen so far on Lexi's other side, also clad in black and white. Both were people that I didn't recognize.
"YEAAAAAAHHHH!!!" The soldiers screamed, pumping their fists in the air.
They were assuming that this was their last day as a living person. So they were going to make the best of it.
The partying began as food and drinks began to be handed out to the soldiers. It was simple soup with steamed potatoes, along with some meat. There was also game, which I assumed had been hunted from the open grasslands around HQ. My heart began to thump to the rhythm as the woman sitting behind the contraption began hitting it with a pair of wooden sticks, the guitar starting to strum its melody.
"The chairs so close, we talk all night long; A small/humble room isn't that bad, We understand each other well, Just like it always is, this is just our light, We drink and sing, we welcome tomorrow, Just like it always is, under the enormous sky-"
The melody was surprisingly mellow, but it seemed to be a famous song. The members began to sing along loudly.
"We live together, the night is long, The stars don't shine, You can't see the moon in this city, We looked at the light itself, Singing under the starry sea..." Lexi sang, her voice carrying over the crowd and the loud noise of the instruments themselves somehow.
"Chairs so close and room so small, You and I talk all the night long... Meagre this space but serves us so well, We comrades have stories to tell...""And it's always like that in the evening time, We drink and we sing when our fighting is done, And it's always so we live under the burnt clouds, Ease our burden, long is the night--"
"Just as no stars can be seen, We all starve for a moonbeam on our town, We must all gather as one, Sing with hope and the fear will be gone-!"
"The chairs lie so close, You and I talk all the night long... A small/humble room isn't that bad, We comrades have stories to tell..."
"It is always like this, then always in yield, We drink and we sing when our fighting is done, Just like it always is, we live under the burnt clouds, Ease our burden, long is the night--!!!"
"The stars don't shine, We all starve for a moonbeam on our town; We looked at the light itself, Sing with hope and the fear will be gone...."

Party concert! Whoever speaks German out there, please correct me if the English translations are wrong; there are some iffy lines here and here. To those of you who watched No Regrets OVA, you'll probably recognize this song.
