Anticipation pulsed through the air as everyone stirred awake, the upcoming party hanging heavy like a gilded threat. Elsa, however, remained a silent figure, her thoughts cloaked in an impenetrable stillness. Even Veronica's attempts to engage her friend were met with averted gazes and hesitant headshakes.

The arrival of Rex and Rosella brought a wave of relief, but Veronica's sharp eyes noticed a flicker of unspoken communication between them and Elsa. When Professor Jovanny pressed Rosella for missing intel, the celebrity simply smirked, her gaze lingering on Elsa with a playful barb.

"I see you're looking better, mademoiselle," Rosella purred, the playful jab leaving a cold edge in the room. Elsa, however, remained a statue, her silence more eloquent than any response.

Professor Charles' plea for details was met with Rosella's dramatic eye roll before she threw out a bombshell: Jason's willingness to break off his engagement with Elsa. The news resonated with a heavy thud, its weight settling on everyone's shoulders, yet Elsa remained shrouded in her self-imposed solitude.

"Enjoy the party while remaining vigilant," Professor Charles instructed, his words hollow against the backdrop of Elsa's turmoil. Only Veronica, sensing the storm brewing beneath the surface, offered Elsa and Zoe a haven in her room.

"I find Rose suspicious and annoying," Zoe declared, breaking the suffocating silence. "Getting to know her is making me wish for amnesia all over again!"

Zoe's blunt declaration about Rosella hung in the air, momentarily dissolving the tense silence. While Veronica and Elsa both felt a heavy premonition of imminent turmoil, Zoe's outburst elicited a shared laugh, a fragile spark of normalcy in the face of uncertainty.

"So, girls," Veronica began, her voice adopting a conspiratorial tone, "I want you to know – you can trust me completely. But I can't shake this feeling... something bad is on the horizon. Worse, I suspect it might come from someone close, maybe even family. Someone who knows us well enough to throw us off Javier's radar."

A shiver ran down Zoe's spine. Veronica's words echoed her own gnawing suspicions. "That makes sense," she agreed, her voice tight. "Whoever it is, they've been one step ahead of Javier for weeks."

Elsa remained silent, her thoughtful gaze flitting between her friends. Zoe, sensing her distress, nudged her gently. "Hey, Elsa, I know there's a lot on your mind. But whatever it is, please talk to us. You don't have to carry this alone."

Elsa sighed, a wave of worry washing over her face. "So much to say," she murmured, her voice heavy with unspoken thoughts. "I just hope... I hope we all come out of this alright."

"Amen to that," Veronica responded, her voice laced with conviction. "Having you two by my side is like a beacon in the storm. A ray of light, Zoe. Did you just go all poetic?"

Zoe flushed, surprised by the unexpected compliment. "I... well," she stammered, a rare bashfulness coloring her cheeks. "Maybe Jay's not so bad after all."

Veronica's eyes twinkled mischievously. "Go get 'em, girl!" she winked, her playful nudge breaking the tension once more.

They shared a genuine laugh, the sound like a fragile melody piercing the looming darkness. Then, they sighed in unison, the weight of their anxieties settling back upon them. Glances filled with unspoken understanding passed between them, a silent pact of loyalty and friendship forged in the face of the unknown.

Zoe's raised eyebrow mirrored Veronica's, a silent question hanging in the air. "Killer or Don?" Elsa chimed in, a playful smirk replacing her previous pensive expression.
