As I stumble through the wind and get pelted by snow, the villiages light comes clear into vision. Every house light, every windowsil. I thought I was heading away from people, away, away.

I gasp as I wake up. It's still dark but I pick up my sack of provisions and head towards the frozen lake I found earlier this winter. It has salmon in it before, and the summer before that, eels and katniss roots. I doubt it would have anything in it this late but maybe, just maybe.

I make to a tree and I hear rustling above me. A flash of brown, and then, nothing. I have to keep going if I want to make to the lake by days end.

As I walk my breath evens out. Why I avoided people, I never know. I've always felt distant from them always. Since the darkness has dissapeared I haven't had much cause to visit the people. I always liked my own company anyway.

But, still...

I've never felt more alone.
