I cleared my head took out my gun and took off the safety. Then I fired at what you would call the "bad guys". Or at least I think they're bad guys. They probably see us as the bad people but in the end, we all have our jobs to do.
They fall to the floor as I shoot them in the chest never missing my shot. When I ran out of bullets I threw the gun on the ground and took out my daggers. A tall broad man came up to me.
"Are you lost, little girl?"
"Nope. I'm right where I want to be." I throw my dagger into his chest again with precision and then used my powers to take out the knife to throw it into more chests. After all these kills I should've been different. I should've felt bad. I didn't, it came so easily to me I realized, so naturally.
I finally reached the safe which held the ruby. The safe looked very intricate. I closed my eyes and focused on the metal. Feeling it and guiding it so it would open. Slowly I made the gears turn until I hear a click.
"Bingo," I whispered under my breath. I opened the safe and there it was shining. A bright, bright red ruby for the taking. So I took it. Immediately I felt different, more powerful. So odd. I put it safely in my bag and focused my power to take out every single enemy in the room. They rose slowly and I could feel if I just pushed myself a little further all of them would be dead.
"Crack," I mumble, and just like that every single one of them fell to the floor...dead. All of the soldiers looked at me with fear and most importantly respect. "Let's go back to the plane," I spoke suddenly feeling very much in charge. They all nodded their heads and followed me back to the plane. Then when the General saw me he looked like he was about to explode because I snuck onto the ship but when I showed him the ruby his eyes lit up with greed and gratitude.
"You're welcome," I said all sassy. It felt good to complete a mission and yet there was something buried deep that felt like remorse. I'm guessing the adrenaline was all gone and I was finally feeling the weight of what I did. But, they deserved it didn't they? It's war and in war, people get hurt. Right? It's too late anyway. What's done is done. Now I have to move forward and face Vlad.
"Please don't be mad at me," I whispered in secret prayer to myself over and over again the rest of the flight. All the men talked and were so happy about the victory. They sang my name like I was some kind of god to them. It's funny they think I am some fearless leader but all the while I was scared to see what Vlad would think. Don't get me wrong though, I did enjoy it. It felt good to be appreciated, maybe even adored. When we finally reached back base I stepped out of the plane and right there was Vlad.
"Before you say any—" He rushed up to me quickly and hugged me."Thank god you are safe." I hugged him back. Then he held me out by my shoulders. "What did I say hmm? I said you weren't ready. And what do you do? You storm off like a baby and almost get yourself killed."
"Sir it was the other way around." One soldier replied.
Then another spoke. "You should've seen her sir. Wiped out all the men like that." And he snapped his fingers. One after another they all told Vlad what happened. Praising me. Then Vlad looked at me and spoke.
"I'm still mad at you but, I'm proud of you kid. Maybe you're ready for something a little higher up."
"I am?" I replied happily.
"Yes. You are. You're ready for the real Hydra,
Blood Queen."
