Breathe

~ twenty five~

Maya's POV

Whatever luke gave me was making me feel really tired and the whole room was spinning. Michael waved his hand in front of my face making me look at him. He laughed

" Girly you okay?" he asked making me nod and lean my head on Marie's shoulder

" we have to go scrub in but we will see you in a few minutes" Calum spoke kissing my forehead and left with the others. Marie sat with me as we talked about random thing my words slurring making Marie laugh. Before long she rolled me into the OR it was cold and spelled like hand sanitizer. She helped me into the hard bed laying a blanket on my lower body.

" jez you would think I could get a more comfortable bed if i'm gonna be here for 9 hours" I said joking making the nurses smile. I layed down fully with my head against the pillow starring at the celling there was a big light between all the ceiling tiles. Marie starting sticking all these monitors on me making me panic a bit. I started to shake and my breathing became heavier. I felt someone grab my hand I looked to see luke he smiled in his mask and rubbed my hand reassuringly. They spoke to each other in medical terms I didn't understand.

" pretty girl that girl behind you is Emma she is in charge of making sure you sleep I looked behind me and a older girl waved."

" okay Maya your going to feel a cold rush in your arm no need to panic it's just some medicine to make you sleepy" she told me as I looked at the guys

" i'm going to put a mask over your nose and mouth I need you to just breathe deeply and count backwards from ten"

" guys if anything happens-"

" nothing is going to happen Maya we will see you in a bit" Ash said

" I love you"

" we love you too"

She placed the mask over my face and I began to count down

" 10...9...8...7...." every breathe made it harder and harder to stay awake

" don't fight it pretty girl" I heard Luke say before my eyes felt to heavy to leave open.

Luke's POV

She went quiet and we looked to the monitors seeing her brain activity

" she's out" Emma told us confidently

~ 9 hours later ~

We had just finished Maya's surgery successfully and we all scrubbed out before engulfing each other in victory hugs.

" we did it!" Ashton celebrated as we all smiled back at him.

" our girl is gonna be okay" Calum said

" yeah she is" Michael added

We walked out of the scrub room to see Marie standing there waiting for us Ashton ran and hugged her twirling her around as they laughed out.

" Thank you, Thank you " Marie said brining us all into a big hug

" I don't know about you guys but I need a coffee" they all agreed and we went down to the cafeteria grabbing some. Maya was not going to wake up for a few hours so we took our time we finished our coffees and took quick showers in the resident lounge. Once we finished we all met up and at outside Maya's room on the floor not wanting her to wake up from us.

" the last time we were sitting we were given the news" Calum pointed out

" I know it was only a week and 2 days ago but it feels longer" I pointed out making them agree

" how long will she have to stay?" Micheal asked

" we have to see till she wakes up but probably only 2 days as long as she stays home with us" Ashton responded

" let's go see our girl" I said standing up and heading into her room quietly the others following. She was pale, covered in wires and a oxygen mask but she looked better. We sat around her quietly just taking in the moment.

Maya's POV

I woke up to someone rubbing my stomach. I opened my eyes slowly feeling groggy and pain in my throat. I sat up further in bed.

" hey girly how are you feeling" Ash asked me I looked around the room to see the guys and Marie the medicine was making everything I did slow and funny.

" pain" I spoke out scaring myself at the raspy voice that came out. Luke handed me a glass of water which I drank

" your throat might be sore for a bit from the breathing tube" he told me

" i'll get you some medicine it's really strong so it will make everything seem funny for a bit but you'll pain will be gone" Ash said getting up and inserting something into my IV

" did you do it" I asked

" yes pretty girl and everything went great so nothing to worry about" luke told me I moved over in my bed allowing him space to cuddle me. He got the message and cuddled me as the others spoke among themselves. As they talked everything seemed funny like Ash said. I giggled randomly at nothing in lukes arms.

" what's so funny pretty girl?" Calum asked me

" nothing" I said not being able to control my laughter. It slowed down a bit and I spoke up

" guys I feel gooddd right now" making them look to me smiling

" I'm so glad Maya" Marie said

" someone needs to sleep off those medicines" Micheal smiled to me

" who?" I asked confused

" you" Calum said happily

" I don't want to sleep, I wanna party" I said

" how about this, you sleep now and we can party a lot tomorrow!" Marie said tucking me in and kissing my forehead. I leaned against luke trying to sleep but the mask kept rubbing against my face.

" can I take this off? I wanna be a free women!" I yelled

" only if you promise to sleep" luke said taking it off and putting it behind us
