Poem 44 {Fading Yearning}

You're just there.

I can see you, I can even touch you.

There is nothing in the way.

But I can't.

I can't lean over and grab your hand.

I can't rest my tired head on your shoulder,

And let your scent lull me to sleep.

I can't confess every emotion that's linked to you

And I can't explain myself.

I'm suppose to sit here silently,

As if you're not on my mind every second,

As if I'm not in pain over you,

As if my heart can't burst at the sight of your smile.

You're sitting here talking, laughing, teasing....

And are you flirting with me?

It can't be.

You've made it perfectly clear you don't want me,

As you're off the market again.

So I can't nestle into you confessing,

I can't sleep on your shoulder

Making all my fears and pain vanish.

I'm suppose to just sit here as long as possible,

Not touching, not moving.

But I don't know how long I can hold out,

How long my aching body can repress itself.

It seems that my body needs you in any little form

Even if it means you're mocking me,

It doesn't matter as long as your here,

As long as you see me.

So if I get up and leave,

My strength vanishing,

Well don't think I'm leaving,

Oh cause baby you left me first.
