Melanie cooed as you knocked on the door to Spencer's apartment

"Okay pumpkin it's time to go with dad" you spoke in a voice you never expected you would make to a child, it was ironic since you made fun of people for doing it "I will come back for you very soon" you kissed the top of her forehead

"Why is your father not answering the door" you knocked again "Spencer" you spoke louder

You looked back down "Looks like he is not home" but was soon as you spoke you heard the door click. You looked back up and it was a woman who opened the door. You stepped back for a moment to check that this was the right apartment and it was

"Who are you" the woman spoke with a rude tone

Your jaw dropped and the words you wanted to say were stuck in your throat "Um, I'm... where is Spencer"

"Not here" she began to shut the door but you stopped it with your foot

"That's not true"

"Well then wrong apartment" she tried to shut it again but you stopped her again

"Well that's strange considering I used to live with him" you smiled a little too hard "Would you mind getting Spencer, his daughter is waiting for him"

"Oh so your the mom" she scoffed

Before you could say anything you heard a voice "Who's at the door"

You looked behind the woman and saw Spencer walking up behind her. "Apparently I'm the mom" you took one hand and used it to signal air quotes

After a brief moment of awkward staring the girl turned around and went back inside. Spencer looked at you but you looked away. "Wow, it's been one month since we broke up and you already have a girlfriend"

"No she's not-, let me explain"

"No no it's fine, I'm not surprised" you forced a smile and handed him Melanie and the diaper bag "We aren't together do what you want, but don't leave her alone with Mel"

"Hey my little angel" you heard Spencer coo as you turned around but felt a hand land on your shoulder "Wait remember Ethan"

"What does this have to do with your friend" you crossed your arms over your chest

"Well he came here to surprise me" he opened the door all the way and there he was, Ethan and a couple of other people sitting in Spencer's living room "And he brought friends"

"Oh" you gave a small wave and Spencer returned to his spot in front of you "I could take Melanie for one more day if you want to hang out with them and your new little friend"

"No it's fine, they were about to leave and I barely know her"

"Then I will leave you to it" you awkwardly smiled and began to walk away. "Don't justify yourself to me" You heard your name being called but you kept walking down the steps

As you were walking into the elevator, the doors were about to close but a pair of hands stopped them. It was Spencer. He walked in and stood beside you. There was a moment of silence. You swore you could hear your own heart beating.

"I'm sorry if what happened yesterday upset you" Spencer looked down at you

"Why would I be upset" you looked up at him and smiled even though you didn't want to

"Well a random girl answered the door and by the look on your face I could tell she probably said something rude"

"I mean she did almost slam the door in my face" your hands casually found their way to fidget with the necklace around your neck, but it wasn't there anymore "Twice" you dropped your hands to your sides
