"We got everything we need?"

Anthony was making sure everything was packed and Ryan was sitting on the hood of the car as he was drinking some coffee. I was standing near the car drinking my coffee as well and shivering a little as it was cold outside this morning.

It was currently six in the morning and it was time to hit the road up North.

I was happy but at the same time, I was a little sad cause we would be leaving for two weeks.

Sorting things out in the big city up North and living the life of what we'll be experiencing for the rest of our lives.

It was time.

College is going to be so different and I know that as long as we're together, anything is possible and we'll be fine.

We're not permanently leaving yet.

We're just visiting for a while then we're leaving in another few months to stay there for good.

"I'm nervous." Ryan said. "I really am."

I smiled at him then patted his leg. "It'll be ok, buddy. We're all in this together."

"This ain't no high school musical, Grace." Anthony said from the trunk.

Shaking my head, I smile at Ryan before taking another sip of coffee. "It's ok."

"Grace!" I turn to see my mom walking out with another bag. I smiled at her as she approached me then handed me the bag before pulling me into a hug before I could even think. "Ugh, my baby is leaving."

"Only for a little while, mom." I said. "I can't breathe."

She pulls back before wiping her eyes then sighing. "I'm sorry. I just don't know what to do without you here."

"I'm sure aunt Brenda will keep you company."

"It won't be the same without my baby girl here."

Smiling at her, I placed the bag on the hood of the car before pulling her into a hug. "I love you, mom."

"I love you too, sweetie. Please be careful. Call me every few hours and call me when you get here. Anthony!" I saw her walk over to him, probably about to give him a lecture.

Shaking my head, I look at Ryan before grabbing my bag and tossing it in the car. I shut the door before leaning on it then looking over at the house next door.

I haven't seen or spoke the Miranda since that day.

It was hard but I just didn't know what to do anymore.

Clearly she's too afraid to call the cops on his stupid ass so there's not much I can do anymore.

I gave up.

After mom hugged all of us and gave Anthony a lecture about driving carefully and everything, it was time to leave.

Mom hugged me the longest and last before kissing me all over.

I couldn't help but smile at her as I hugged her back and told her not to miss me too much.

As we all said our goodbye, we got into the car and I watch as my mom was waving at me and wiping her eyes as we were leaving the driveway. I couldn't help but smile as I waved back and saw her blow me a few kisses before we disappeared down the road.

"Here we go!" Anthony yells. "A whole week away from this shit town. Time to explore the life of being an adult. Try new things."

"I always wanted to try sushi." Ryan said.
