"let's talk!" a short blonde male appeared in tae's doorway, his face half decorated in powder and foundation as he busily applied the other half.

"about what?" tae had his eyes glued to his phone.

"i want you to come to a party with me tonight." jimin slid into next to his friend, tapping the makeup brush against his cheeks, "you need to get out of the house."

"a party? i'm going to need you to elaborate a bit."

"if i elaborate you'll say no."

"and if you don't elaborate i'll also say no, so what do you have to lose?"

"fair enough." jimin rolled onto his stomach, his chin tucked between his hands as he batted his lashes endearingly, "it's a party at jungkook's shop to celebrate a new apprentice joining the team."

"so it's a party with jungkook, at jungkook's, and you think i would ever in my right mind go?" tae flicked his friend's forehead, "you're more delusional than i thought."

"you slept with him once, it's not like him bringing lia was meant to hurt you." jimin huffed, "besides, don't you want to show up looking hot as hell and show him what he's missing out on?"

tae clenched his jaw; his friend had a point, "if i go, i'm going to bring a date."

"who gave you the right to add plus ones?"

"guess i'll stay home then!" tae mocked, noticing the way jimin's expression dropped.

"fine!" he ignored the way the brunette went right back to texting, opting to pick out an outfit for him instead.

tae already knew who he'd invite, what he'd wear, the things he'd say. he'd been calculating most of it since the last time he'd laid eyes on the younger, the one who seemed to thrive on leading multiple people on.

maybe lia could handle something like that, a busted excuse for a relationship but tae could never. too much pain that he didn't need.

"my date is picking me up in twenty!" tae yelled into the closet which jimin had submerged himself in, "grab me the black jeans and the button up i just bought."

the blonde threw the requested pieces clothing towards him, helping button the shirt up and fix his brunette hair in the process.

it was undeniable that tae was handsome on most occasions but when he dressed himself up, well he was something else.

his hair had grown an inch or so in the past month, leaving it swooped around his ears, the tips poking at his neck and his skin seemed to sparkle under the light of the bedroom. whatever he was doing, routine, ridding of any bad vibes- well, it had left him glowing.

"i assume you're meeting me there?" jimin grabbed the perfect coat for his friends fit.

"yes, we're going to get dinner first. maybe drive around for a minute."

"well i can't wait to meet this mystery man whose been hogging all your time and keeping you glued to your phone!" jimin shouted down the hallway, tae already skipping away.

"maybe you've already met him."

it wasn't meant to sound so ominous but jimin couldn't help but play through a list of ex-boyfriends in his brain. who the fuck would tae get back with just for some petty revenge?

sun swirled to stars, the happy hour rush swapping itself out for a dinner menu and drinks and tae poured back plenty. across from him was somebody he'd never expected to see again, an ex that he figured would remain as such.
