"Xiao, if reincarnation exists, promise me you'll find me." You muttered lowly, your head resting on his lap. He'd glance at you before looking at the vivid blue sky that was glimmering with the stars. "What kind of ridiculous promise is that, of course I will." He had reassured you. "Even if it takes a thousand years." He added, you couldn't help but to smile. Wanting the moment to last long, you had loved this man all your life.
But little did you know, he had already found you. Ever since Xiao met you decades ago. He had always found a way to find you. Waiting seemed like a normal thing for him at this point. The most painful thing for him though was watching you die over and over again in his arms, you had always seemed to die at bad times. Even if you did get reincarnated, every time you two meet, it gives Xiao a memory of the past that he had dearly missed.
A memory that had always seemed to hurt him every time he remembers it. It was like a scar that never got stitched up. He had always wished that maybe, in one of your lives, you would remember every single memory of you two. How you two used to sit down in a flowery field. How you two always hung out at Wangshu Inn, How you always tried to convince him to socialize more.
Your soul was like forever stuck with his. But it wasn't like you were complaining and neither did he. He enjoyed your company more than anyone's. You too, had enjoyed his company. He thought that you would always get reincarnated, but oh how it broke his heart into a million pieces when he couldn't find you.
After a day of searching, he decided to go rest at the flowery field that you two had always seemed to hang out at. It wasn't until he saw a familiar figure sitting down. He widened his eyes before he slowly approached the figure he dearly loved. You had sensed his presence before smiling softly, you turned your head to look at him with a smile, "I love you Xiao." You said with an eye smile. He couldn't help but to tear up, "I love you too Y/N, I always have for nearly a thousand years now." He said, before he ran to hug you. "I love you Xiao, I'll love you a thousand more." You whispered in his ear.
