I wait till my parents are watching Wheel of Fortune since they both fall asleep around ten-thirty. My dad goes to bed first because he has been working all day, and my mom comes second because she has been talking to someone in another language all day.

I opened my window to go on the roof and planned to climb down from the vines beside my bedroom window, but as I was climbing down, I noticed Everly painting.

She is painting a person, but I couldn't tell who it is.

I suddenly lose my balance and fall off the roof, smashing against the trashcans in the side yard and making a loud crashing noise.

Oh, no.

I know my parents would wake up and wonder what happened, so I get up and unlock the side gate, despite the fact that I am basically dead.

I hop on my bike and grab my surfboard as I leave, riding my bike while holding my surfboard in my hand.

Shit, I'm gonna be in big trouble again.

When I get to the beach, I park my bike and head to the spot where Val and I always meet and where the biggest waves can be found.

Then I notice a group of teenagers I recognize from school, and Val recognizes me and approaches me to hug me.

"I'm so relieved that you made it! Come on, I'll grab you something to drink, and then we'll go night surfing!" she stated.

Yeah, she is totally drunk.

I go sit by the fireplace by myself because no one else is there till Shelby Carson comes over and sits right next to me. As she blows her cigarette smoke in my face, I move over to get away from her.

"I didn't think you'd show up, Trav," Shelby remarked as she came closer to me and began to play with my hair.

I began to become uncountable. "Yeah, I got over here,"

"And I'm happy you came because I wanted to see you surf," she said.

That's when I noticed Everly walking down the beach.

Shelby grabbed my hand as I attempted to stand up. "Do you really want to talk to someone who can't see you? Travis, she's a fucking idiot."

I rolled my eyes and forced her to release go of me with all of my strength. As I moved over to Everly, I put my hand on her shoulder when I got face to face with her. "Hey, Everly," I say.

"Hi, Travis," she said.

Everly was dressed in a long blue dress that dropped all the way to the ground, a pink sweater, with her hair down. She is also wearing a beautiful necklace.

That's when Val yelled to everyone that we are going night surfing.

"I'll be right back," I said to Everly, "I'm just going to go surf for a little."

Everly nodded her head and smiled.

I got my surfboard and joined the rest of the group in the sea.

As I sat on my surfboard in the ocean, scanning the horizon for waves, I noticed Shelby talking to Everly.

Then Shelby unexpectedly pushes Everly to the ground. As people that are at the party being to surround them, forming a circle.

Quickly I get out of the water after I get to the shore I place my board on the sand of the seashore.

Before I can get to Everly, Bradley approaches her and takes her cane, which helps her, as well as the amethyst crystal necklace she is wearing around her neck.

As I rush up to Everly and ask if she's okay, she claims to be, but I quickly see she isn't.

With rage in my soul, I stride over to Bradley. "What is the matter with you? Shelby, what about you? Bradley, please give her cane and necklace to me."

Bradley makes a sneering gesture. "It's Brad. And why do you care about this little loser of a shit anyway? She's weird. I mean who would ever wanna kiss that shit!"

"Shut up!"  I was tempted to punch him.

"Aww, that's really cute. He has a thing for her. Maybe he even loves her-"

"No, I don't." I lied.

Bradley burst out laughing. "Okay, if you don't like her, you'd toss her jewelry and this cane into the water right now."

I sighed and grabbed up her cane and jewelry, tossing them both into the sea. Everyone cheered as Everly sobbed, but no one seemed to care.

Brad rubbed his hands together and patted my back. "We got our Trav back. We're heading to Shelby's, and I'll drive, you should come."

As I slipped on my sweater, I nodded. I told Brad, "You go ahead, I'll follow up with you guys," and he grinned as he, his friends, and Shelby walked away.

I walk to Everly. I was feeling guilty, and it was building up inside of me. I sat next to her on the beach as she continued to cry and cover her eyes with her hands. "Look, Everly, I'm sorry," I said.

Everly sneered. "No, you aren't. You threw my cane and the necklace my grandma gave me before she died into the ocean. I believed you cared about me and didn't mind that I couldn't see, but I was wrong. You're just like everyone else I've ever met: fucked up. I don't want to talk to you ever again!"

Everly jumped to her feet and ran down the street, where cars were coming.

I noticed a BMW approaching her and not stopping. I sprang to my feet as quickly as I could and ran as fast as I could.

But I wasn't fast enough.

As I screamed, I began to cry. "No!"

I hate parties.
