When Should I Expect You

You were waiting outside of the coffeshop waiting for Cronus to show. The bastard was 10 minutes late! You hated being off schedule! You plugged in your headphones and leaned against the wall. You weren't just going to do nothing. A few minutes passed and You felt a tap on your shoulder. You looked around the corner to see Cronus. "Yo sorry I vwas late chief I had some unexpected family issues to attend to..." he said with a frown. Well.... at least he felt bad... You rolled your eyes and put away your phone. "Let's g9 inside." You said coldly. Ouch. He shrugged it off and followed you inside. He even held the door open for you. "So vwhy did you chose this place to meet anyvway??? Any particular reason???" He asked. You shrugged. "N9t really... this is just usually where I c9me t9 think and relax...figured it w9uld be a nice place t9 meet..." You explained. He smiled and admired the place. It was a kinda dimly lit but there where stringed lights along the ceiling. There was a stage set up for poets and musicians to perform and there where tables and couches set up in every inch of the room. It was quiet, warm, and cozy. You didn't know why you liked it here. You just did. You ordered your coffee and found a small loveseat in the corner to sit at. "So if your such an outcast, maybe you could give me a lovwdovwn of some of the kids at school??? I mean, you must knovw most people othervwise they vwouldn't hate ya am I right???" He grinned. You sipped your coffee and nodded. "Yes y9ure right.... I supp9se I could...." You began. You then spent the evening explaining to Cronus the who's and what's of Alternia High.

"Meenah, H9rrus, and Aranea are the p9pular kids. Their n9thing but tr9uble. Meulin, Kurl9z, and P9rrim are the Artsy Kids. Their pretty decent but watch 9ut for Kurl9z... Latula, Mituna and Rufi9 are the sp9rty kids. N9b9dy really b9thers them but their still apart of the s9cial n9rm... and then theirs Damara.... she's kind 9f the sch99l badass... yeah... d9nt fuck with her...." You went on. After awhile you finally finished. Cronus was just smiling like an idiot. Just then, the door of the coffee shop blew open and in breezed Aranea Serket. You squeeked slightly and hid your face in your sweater. Cronus looked to see who it was and frowned. "vwhy are you so nervwous around the popular kids??? vwhat did they do???" He asked quietly. Before you had time to answer, Aranea spotted you guys and sashayed over. "Oh hello Cronus! Fancy meeting you here! Oh and hello there Kankri!" She said with a smile. You knew that smile all to well. It ment trouble. She obviously thought that this was a date or something. Great. Now she was going to go tell Meenah and Horuss and it would be all over school tomorrow! You blushed slightly behind your sweater as she and Cronus began chatting. Compleatly ignoring you. "Oh 8y the way Cronus, Meenah is throwing a party on Saturday! You should totally come!!!" She said excitedly. Cronus smiled. "vwell maybe.... that is, if I can bring this kid along..." he motioned to you. Your eyes went wide. A party??? Was he crazy??? You couldn't go to a party at Meenah's house!!! Besides why did he even want you to come??? Aranea bit her lip. "W-well, um.... why don't I talk to Meenah and get 8ack to you on that... she said. Cronus nodded and she scuttled away. She ordered her coffee and left. You let out a heavy sigh and glared at Cronus. "Why 9n earth w9uld y9u say s9mething like that!!! That's triggering f9r n9t 9nly me, but her as well!!! Think 9f the p9siti9n you just put her in!!!" You snapped. He frowned. "Look doll I'm sorry... I just don't understand vwhat the big deal is..." he began but you cut him off. "The big deal is that when we were all in elementary sch99l, Meenah, Aranea, and H9russ all started bullying me because I had buck teeth and glasses. And ever since then, they've sl9wly br9ught d9wn my self c9nfidence. It's always the same with them. Aranea gets the g9ssip and tells H9russ and Meenah. Then Meenah makes a shit t9n of rude j9kes ab9ut it and H9russ.... well he just sits back and encourages it. If y9u want t9 g9 hang 9ut with them then fine. But I can't be ar9und them." You explained firmly. And with that, you stood up and left.

~back at home~

On your way home, Cronus had Texted you a million times but you didnt care. All you cared about was that you didn't look like a fool. You ran upstairs to your room, threw your bag on your bed, and locked yourself in your closet. You needed to breathe. Phew. Okay relax Kankri. It was just a misunderstanding. Unfortunately this little mix up could cost you your entire social life which was already bad enough as it is. If you went to that party, Meenah would have made you regret it. Meenah was the worst of the three. She was the one who mocked you for everything you did. And since it was her party, she would have control over the entire social standing. If she wanted to hurt you, there would be the place to do it. You picked up your phone and Dialed Porrims number. Time for some expert advice.

~45 minutes later~

You heard the doorbell ring and figured it was Porrim. You ran downstairs to answer it and sure enough, there she was with a pillow and a bag. She always slept over when you needed to talk. It was just sort of a thing. The two of you went upstairs to your room and she set down her things. "So+ what's go+ing o+n Kanny???" She asked. You sighed and explained to her what happened. She listened very carefully and when you were done she smiled. "I do+n't think yo+u acted unreaso+nably... but yo+u know, he was just trying to+ include you.... I'm sure he didn't mean to+ trigger yo+u in any way.... if yo+u want, I co+uld talk to+ him fo+r yo+u..." She stated. You thought about her offer and sighed. "W9uld you??? That w9uld be great." You said half heartedly. She smiled as you gave her his number.

Porrim's POV

You entered the number Kankri had given you into your phone. Then you began to text.

PM: Hello+ Cro+nus this Is Kankri's friend Porrim.

CA: Oh hey yeah Kan told me about ya... what's up???

PM: Well Kankri to+ld me abo+ut what happened at the co+ffee sho+p to+day... I figured yo+u must be rather co+nfused as to+ why he go+t so+ upset...

CA: Actually.... yeah I am....

PM: Kankri is very... fragile to+ say the least. The po+pular kids have been very rude to+ him for as lo+ng as we can remember... it has scarred him very deeply to the po+int that he pushes himself away fro+m o+thers because he thinks they wo+nt bo+ther him that way....

CA: So that's vwhy.... I guess I just gotta be a bit more careful around him huh???

PM: Yes that wo+uld be wise.
