Dream did not let go of my hand as we left the castle behind us, and began to walk down the prime path

Dream did not let go of my hand as we left the castle behind us, and began to walk down the prime path. Punz was ahead of us, with two of the guards. Sapnap, George and Bad were behind, swords and shields at the ready, and behind them were more guards. We were taking no chances, considering the circumstances as to why Dream was being crowned king of the realm today.

I had intended to keep my eyes open for Schlatt, feeling sure he wouldn't allow the coronation to happen without at least trying to interfere, but for some reason all I could focus on was the point at which Dream's hand connected with mine. The cheering and applause of the people below was like nothing I'd ever seen before, and it warmed my heart that the people, as chaotic and insane as they were, wanted this coronation to happen.

We'd reached the castle again, passing through another set of large double doors, and before I knew it, we'd reached the doors to the throne room and they flung wide open, allowing us to enter. I had never seen so many people in that room before, but today it was packed to the brim with both familiar, and unfamiliar faces standing on either side of the red carpet that divided the large, ballroom sized hall. Tall, marble pillars supported the roof on either side, and there were even people who would surely see nothing at all, considering they were standing behind them. It was proof enough that it was an honour just to be in this room to witness this event.

A hush fell across the room as we made our way towards the front, with everyone bowing their heads respectfully as we passed. When we reached the front of the room, Dream released my hand with evident reluctance, allowing me to take my place with Sapnap, George and Bad, whilst he went to stand before the throne. My eyes caught sight of the pedestal beside the throne that bore not one, but two crowns on top of it, and I caught my breath sharply, knowing one of them was for me.

Punz stepped towards Dream, and began the carefully rehearsed words that had been spoken at every coronation of our kingdom from the beginning of time.

"Your royal highness, prince Dream," he stated. "We are here today in the presence of your people, your allies, your family and friends for the most important occasion of your life. It is today that you accept the kingship of this, our kingdom, with grace and with honour. You pledge to govern it to the best of your ability in justice and in lawfulness, and with respect to the many kings who have reigned before you. Do you accept these terms, your highness?"

"I do," said Dream.

Punz smiled at him softly.

"Then, it is with great honour, that I, as the chief of the army, bestow this crown upon your head, and all the rights and privileges that are associated with it."

So saying, Punz turned to the pedestal on which the crown was waiting, and lifted it carefully, before turning back to Dream. Dream sat down on the throne, carefully arranging his cape how he wanted it, and Punz placed the ornate crown on his head, then stepped back to take his place with the other guards. The room erupted with loud applause and cheering, which was echoed from beyond the large oak doors to the castle, indicating that the people outside were privy to what was going on within. That was the cue for those of us who had entered with Dream to bow, and we did, lowering to one knee and bowing our heads for our new king.
