"You're a real force to be reckoned with, and I have so much respect for how you handle yourself. But for some reason... I'm the exception."

Preparations to go to war with Schlatt began again in earnest, after the events of the library. No one knew what happened between myself, Dream, and Techno - to my knowledge, none of us shared the information with anyone, despite the three of us being consistently grilled on the subject. It was clear it had been something big, and it was a pity that it was impossible for us to allow the information to spread, even to our closest friends. Techno and I, after our initial apprehension, were forced to the conclusion that Dream had done the right thing in burning the record of the Revive Book. It was dangerous information, and it was knowledge that put Dream in an uncomfortable position. Now, if he was ever witness to anyone's death, he would forever be tied to the fact that he could revive them, if he chose it. But reviving someone would make public the fact that he was capable of it, and that would put him in danger. Danger of either blackmail, or of being killed himself.
I was grateful that I had at least Techno to share the knowledge of it with me. Dream, understandably, refused to mention the subject even when we were alone, and it pushed me closer to my brother.
"I keep dwelling on that first sentence he read out," I told Techno, a few days later.
The two of us had been sparring in the arena with Dream and Sapnap earlier, however it was late now, and Sapnap had since departed to help Punz with something. Dream was in the armoury below the arena, taking off his netherite and putting away his training weapons. Techno and I sat in the middle of the arena, too tired to move, and too wired to sleep.
"What do you mean?" Techno queried, his gaze not moving from the dark sky above us.
"I'm talking about the library," I said, refraining from mentioning it directly. "That first sentence he read... 'In death the curses broken, return revived, alive.' I wonder what it means, 'the curses broken.' Why does it specifically refer to that?"
Techno shrugged his shoulders.
"I guess it's like you would expect. When you revive someone, they do not return with any curses that had been placed upon them. The curses do not remain attached."
"Huh," I mused. "I guess that's just the nature of a curse - it's meant to be something that stays with you until death."
"Yeah, that's it. Like a curse of binding or vanishing on a piece of armour, or a weapon. They are both tied to death."
"Sapnap said that when he took a totem death his armour and weapons all vanished with the curse," I mused. "I suppose that's why it's a curse, though. Your enemies don't get the use of them, but there's no chance of you ever getting them back either."
"Sapnap really put curse of vanishing on his things?" Techno smiled. "He's unbelievable."
I chuckled.
"Insane, you mean. I'm happy he's feeling better recently, the totem death really took it out of him."
"I'm glad of it too," he said. "I'm pretty sure that curse of vanishing is supposed to be something you only use for items of privacy, to avoid them getting into the wrong hands. No one can kill you and take it from your dead body, because it'll vanish upon your death."
