"You're a real force to be reckoned with, and I have so much respect for how you handle yourself. But for some reason... I'm the exception."

Dream spent the next hour or so giving audience to the various leaders of our allied countries, and to other distinguished guests who wished to pay him their respects. There was little for Sapnap, George and I do to at this point - in the laws of our culture, my position as queen was not nearly so important as that of the primary monarch, and although Sapnap and George were still alert for any potential threats, I doubted anyone else would try it at this point. Dream had already proved that he and his court were more than capable of dealing with surprise attacks, and it would be unwise to test the system a second time.
Bad, on the other hand, was suddenly a particularly busy man. As young teenagers, we had all joked about Bad becoming prime minister one day, but to see it happening before our eyes was fascinating. He was a perfect choice for the job, his organisational skills, paired with his compassionate nature made him a level headed, just and fair decision maker, and he was still the only person we'd seen tell Dream off in front of his court and get away with it. He was currently taking notes of the proceedings in his notebook, and Dream frequently turned to him to ask him a question, or to discuss something with him briefly. Occasionally, he called George, Sapnap and I into the conversation as well, but for the most part, Bad's opinion sufficed.
When the court was finally empty, Dream sank back tiredly in his throne, gazing up at the ceiling.
"This is crazy," he muttered. "At least that was alright. I hated my first ten minutes as king, but I think I'm already getting the hang of things as far as dealing with people goes."
"You're doing great, Dream," Bad smiled at him. "You were born to do this. Literally."
"At least the plan worked," said Sapnap. "Callahan is the people's hero for arranging those panels to be changed into doors."
"So that was the secret that Alexa and I weren't allowed to know?" George asked. "You could have just told us, we wouldn't have spread it anywhere!"
"We would have told you," said Dream. "It was more a matter of timing. We couldn't tell you without being potentially overheard, so we just left it. Alexa, you stepped up to the task well, considering you had no idea what was going on."
"Yeah, I mean my trident seemed to show up out of nowhere, I just didn't question it," I laughed. "I would like to get this cut seen to though - it's stopped bleeding, but it's aching now, and I'm a bit worried about it."
"Oh, I forgot about that!" Dream gasped, sitting bolt upright again, a worried tone overtaking his voice. "Come here, let me see it."
I moved closer to him, and allowed him to take my left arm, turning it over to see the cut that Schlatt had inflicted upon me with his sword.
"I'll actually go and slaughter him myself if this scars," Dream muttered.
"Dream!" I exclaimed, pulling my arm away with a laugh. "It's gonna be fine, I just want a medic to check it."
