It was Quackity, Karl, and the Badlands army who had attacked us, the army being forced to defend the castle under Sam's command upon their return yesterday. Dream and I learned this as soon as we returned to the castle ourselves, dripping wet, but alive. The two of us made puddles in the grand hallway whilst the butlers informed us of what had transpired since we'd left, and tried to pretend they weren't more annoyed about the water on the floor than anything else.

Sapnap had, thankfully, woken up in his bed at the castle, and immediately after a warm shower and change of clothes, Dream and I found him in the common room, surrounded by the rest of our friends. Both of us flew to hug him as soon as we saw him, with Punz and George soon joining us, whilst Imane and Rae looked on with happy smiles. I drew back from Sapnap once we'd finished squeezing the life out of each other, and pressed my hands to his cheeks.

"Never do that ever again," I told him seriously, feeling tears pricking at the corner of my eyes.

Sapnap shook his head, and I could see that the totem death had done a number on him. I'd heard that it took a while to recover from them, which wasn't surprising.

"What I did worked exactly how I wanted it to, Jett," he spoke softly, as if trying to pacify me. "I bought you time. I'm your bodyguard, first and foremost. My job is to die instead of you, and that's what I did."

"You are my best friend first and foremost, Sap," I spoke fiercely, pulling him closer to me once again, and he chuckled, returning my hug tightly.

"Okay," he agreed easily.

"I have to ask," said Punz, "When you two headed for the waterfall we thought you'd be waking up in your beds here as well. How did you get out of the river without popping your totems?"

I glanced briefly at Dream. We'd discussed this on the way back to the castle, deciding that if we could avoid it, we would not be sharing with them the fact that we'd stared death in the face. It wasn't their fault, and they'd only feel guilty for it.

"Jett has riptide on her trident," Dream explained, and I nodded.

"Riptide is terrifying, I haven't learnt how to use it yet, but it got us to safety which is all that matters."

"Well, thank goodness for that," stated Sapnap. "I'd never wish a totem death upon anyone."

He stared off into the distance, and for a moment I did not think he was seeing the room he was in at all. Beside him, Rae slipped her hand into his, and he blinked rapidly, returning to the present with a jolt. He smiled at her, and squeezed her hand.

"I think I'm gonna go sit outside for a bit," he said, standing up, and pulling the ombré haired girl with him. "I need some air before bed, it's been the longest day of my life."

"Sleep well, Sap, when you make it to bed," I smiled at him.

"You too Rae," said Punz, and the rest of us repeated the sentiment.
