Chapter 26

Riley's POV

 I was meeting Mia for lunch today, a lots happen the past couples days, and we had a lot to catch up with, plus she told me she had to tell me something anyway. Wonder what's that about?

"Hey." I smile walking over to the table Mia was sitting at

"Hey." She smiles 

"So what do you want to talk about?" I ask taking a seat

"Why don't we order first and then we can talk?" Mia suggests

"Sure." I shrug 

We were at Panera, so that required us getting up to order, and pick up our meal. But I love their food, so it's worth it. 

"So what did you want to tell me?" I ask taking a seat once again

We had just order our meal, and were now waiting for it

"Well there's no easy way to say this but here it goes." She pauses

"I'm pregnant."

I feel my jaw drop, I wasn't expecting to hear that.

"Your what?" I exclaim a little to loud, earning some stares from a few people 

Just than our pager vibrates letting us know our food is ready

"Are you sure?" I ask grabbing my tray, as she grabs her

"Yup." Mia breathes

"Wow, well that's great news to hear, congrats." I smile as we take a seat

"Yeah." She mutters

"You don't seem to excited?" I ask taking a bite of my sandwich

"It's just what will Patrick think? Would he leave me because of it?" She asks stirring her soup with a spoon

I could tell by the sound of her voice that she was dead serious

"Mia listen to me, Patrick's head over heels in love with you, just as you are with him. Everyone can see it, and I can assure you that Patrick will be thrilled to know he's becoming a father. He's always talking about how much he adores Maddy, and he's great with her. You shouldn't have anything to worry about." I assure Mia with a small smile

"Thanks Riley, I really needed that." She smiles

"Yeah no problem." I say

"So when you do you plan on telling Patrick?" 

"I was actually going to tell him after the game tonight, win or lose." 

"Awe." I smile

"Does Jonathan know? I ask curious 

Probably shouldn't have asked that but what can I say I'm curious

"No actually you're the first person I told, but I honestly don't care how he finds out, he's just going to have another fit anyway."

"So I take it you guys haven't made up yet?" I question finishing up my sandwich 

"No, and I'm not going to be the one to apologize. He started the fight and he's going to end it." Mia admits finishing up her soup 

You know I just realized that Jonathan likes to start a lot things. Hmm, interesting.

"So were you Patrick planning this or no?" I ask changing the subject

"We weren't really planning it but it's not like were preventing it either." Mia shrugs

I just nod

"So you excited to become a mother." 

"Yeah but nervous too." She admits

"You'll be a great mother don't worry." I assure her 

"Thanks Riley." 

"No problem." I smile as we throw out our trash and walk out

"Maybe I should just wait another time to tell him?" Mia says nervously as we wait outside the locker room

The Hawks fell short to the Red Wings 3-2 in shoot out. I was so sure they were going to win, since they came back in the last minute to tie the game, but I guess the 'hockey gods' had other plans in mind.

"No this is exactly what he needs right now some good news, now go." I say pushing her towards the locker room's door

"But-"

"No buts, now go." I say as I push into the room this time

Lets just hope they're all dressed

I sigh leaning against the wall, as I text Erik. 

He couldn't make the game tonight, because of some job interview he had. Funny though the first time we can be together he can't be here

I watch as more of the players come out of the locker room. Looks like everything is going pretty good, I mean five minutes went by and Mia didn't come out screaming or anything. 

That's a good sign so far

I continue to play on my phone, as I hear the door open and someone comes out. Not bothering to look up. 

I can feel someones eyes on me, I look up and see Jonathan with a blank stare. Maybe if I act like I don't see him, he'll go away.

Jonathan stares at me "Your ruining my sisters life!" 

Guess not.

"I'm ruining it?!" I stare at him in disbelief. 

"Yes! Your a bad influence, before she wouldn't of done any of the crap you've planted in her mind." 

"I know more about her then you do!" 

"I highly doubt that. Face it I'm a much better brother than you are as a friend." He taunts

"Hey if you have to lie to yourself, so it won't keep you up at night, then so be it." I smirk

I watch him clench his jaw. Man it's fun to push his buttons

"You're just jealous." 

"Jealous of you?" I stare at him

"Yeah because my sister tells me everything."

I can feel myself getting angrier with him.

"If she 'so calls tells you everything' then why did she tell me she was pregnant and not you?" I smirk 

"She's what?" Jonathan yells

Shit.
