draco malfoy x reader: soft spot

it was the first day of 5th year. everyone, and i mean everyone, had already had a glow up. okay well, maybe not crabbe or goyle, but still. anyways, i was in one the train's cabins with neville. he looked lonely and i hate seeing neville sad so i sat with him. we watched as people walked by. harry, ron, hermione, dean, seamus, and others walked by without giving us a second glance.

draco, however, seemed interested in the two of us. as he walked by he almost stopped for a while 10 seconds without saying anything. me and neville just looked at him confused as to why he was just standing there watching us. after that the train started moving. i was standing up and wasn't expecting the train to start off that fast. i fell right into neville's lap as draco walked by. he started in disgust at us.

"y/n, what in the world are u doing sitting on longbottom's lap? he's going to make u reek of mud!" he yelled at me. neville's face got as red as a tomato. "o-oh. draco, i'm sorry i didn't mean to-" neville said. i didn't let him finish and said "no neville, don't apologize draco is just a jerk and doesn't know how to shut up." i told both of them. draco didn't reply, he looked like he was tearing up maybe? he ran off when i said that.

i got off of neville's lap because i had just realized i was still sitting on it. "hey i'm sorry about him, he doesn't know what he's talking about." i reassured neville. he didn't say anything though. he just gave me a quick smile before looking at the train's window. i had to go to the restroom so i told neville and left him in the cabinet. as i was walking to the restrooms i saw draco. crying maybe?

"oh y/n i" draco tried to say. "draco are u crying?" i asked him worriedly. his face got red and he didn't respond. "hey what's wrong? u can always talk to me." i told him. he grabbed my hand and we slipped into an empty cabin. "look y/n, i hate to admit it, but i really really-" he trailed off. "draco what is it?" i said. "ireallyreallylikeuanddontlikeseeinguwithotherguys" he said in one breath.

i looked at him shocked. it had NEVER not even one time crossed my mind that draco malfoy liked me. he was always mean to me and didn't seem interested. i guess he could tell i was at a loss for words and said "it doesn't matter if u don't like me i just wanted to tell u" he said. he looked like he was about to cry again. then i said, "well uhm, i've kinda had a tiny crush on u since 2nd year haha." "OH REALLY? THATS BRILLIANT!" he jumped up and yelled.

i laughed at him. "okay well i have to actually use the restroom now, draco." i told him and waved goodbye. "see u when we arrive?" he asked. "sure." i replied. in that moment i knew, these next few years would either be the worst or the best years of my life.
