Before the Black Family knew it, Christmas had approached and El had woken up with a wide smile on her face. To El Christmas equaled food and happiness and Kreacher actually sitting at the table with them and trying to ignore Walburga's light scolding.

She rushed to put on dark jeans and a warm oversized jumper that she may have stolen from Theo. A wide smile remained on her face as she piled Christmas presents in her arms and ran into her uncle's old study.

He never seemed to leave it.

She pushed open the door to see Regulus in deep thought as he wrote a letter behind his oak desk.

"Merry Christmas Uncle Reg." She sang as she placed the multiple boxes on his desk as he rose his eyebrows in question.

"Happy Christmas Ellie." He said with a smirk as El furrowed her brows at the annoying greeting.

"It just sounds wrong." She mumbled to herself before placing the smallest box in front of him.

With intrigue, Regulus opened the silver wrapping paper to see a dark velvet box. With a quick snap, the box revealed shiny silver pocket watch. It had shimmering dials in all different directions and had the Regulus constellations the back.

"Celeste.." he trailed off as his niece looked at him with expectant eyes.

"Well, don't keep me in suspense. Do you like it? I found it in the Black Vault. It belonged to Uncle Alphard but he never took it with him so I thought maybe you would like it and the back changes if you want-" She rambled as Regulus let a smile over take his face.

"I adore it Ellie." His voice low yet so full of emotion.

"I adore it."

It had been a good day. There had been few of them in the past few months but El could proudly say that today was a good day.

She and Regulus has spent all day laughing and eating with Kreacher. The croaky house elf had even gotten her a perfectly rounded pan so they could, hit blood traitors together.

She enjoyed the sentiment.

It was late when El decided to have a drink downstairs after spending the day upstairs. It would be lie to say it was a pleasant surprise to see Sirius Black sitting at the table with a glass of firewhiskey.

El didn't let the smile fade as she warmed a mug of milk on the stove. They stood in silence until the man broke it.

"I didn't want to." His voice came out lower then she expected making her look up.

"I didn't want to leave you are your mother. I didn't want to fall in love with someone else." He continued as El simply looked at him. He needed to get it out.

"When we found out about you, we were young and hopeful but our relationships was not meant to be. When you were born, I promised that you would grow up happy and safe. But as time went on, I got easily agitated and antsy. You hardly liked being near me but when you did, your eyes lit up and had the brightest smile." Sirius reminisced as El listened silently.

"I wanted danger and excitement but Helena wanted a quiet life. Remus was what made me feel alive and I was so stupid to not talk to your mother and I can't change that but I can try with you." He added hopefully as El seemed to ponder his words.

It took a couple moments of silence until El spoke, her voice light and kind, "I remember the night you left. Mum wouldn't stop crying and cursing I thought somebody died. Then she started to just stay in bed. Never got up and never seemed to respond. Uncle Reg helped us loads, made sure I got to school and ate and had as normal a life as possible. Nearly a year later she started getting better. She sang and danced with me. Until she kept telling me how sorry she was. I didn't know what happened until I went to the bathroom and found her half dead."

Tears were running down her cheeks yet she continued, "My Mum died and you weren't there Sirius. I lost by best friend but you were too scared to help. I'm over it now but please don't try and get to know me. I'm happy. I'm safe as I can be. I know right from wrong. I know what love is. I know as much as I can right now to not get hit by a bus on the street. I don't need you. I've learnt that all I need is me." She whispered but her words seemed so strong and sure.

That was when Sirius Black knew that his Ellie-Belly was all grown up.

There small moments was disrupted by the loud bang on the front door. Sharing a look, the pair rushed out to see a pile of wet limbs on the floor.

El ran to the unknown person and tried to reveal their face. She noticed the unruly dark curls and odd freckles.

Theo Nott.
