1940-1959: anastasia is tortured for years by michael dallarosa: a mad scientist fueled by his desire for the most powerful mutant. through the work of surgeries, he gives her the power of 13 mutants, unaware of her natural mutation of empathy. rather than reveal her powers (thought she remains unaware of them), anastasia must infiltrate the CIA and assume cover as a scientist. she befriends her lab partner, hank mccoy, and works with him tirelessly.
1962: anastasia meets a handful of new people — charles xavier, raven darkholme, moira mactaggert, alex summer, sean cassidy, and erik lehnsherr — all are mutants with their own abilities. she grows rather close to each of them, feeling comfortable enough to tell them the full truth. her and her brother, ivan, join their team. both of them learn control of their powers as they train to fight sebastian shaw. her and erik lehnsherr grow the closest as they started a romantic relationship. they loved each other, even if neither one admitted it.
cuban missile crisis: anastasia's heart breaks, figuratively and literally. she watched as erik deteriorated into a man she no longer recognized. he killed his abuser, but pushed it too far in trying to kill humans. anastasia is able to stop erik from killing all those men, rewriting reality to turn the missiles into butterflies. moira mactaggert fires warning shots at erik. he accidentally deflects them straight into anastasia's chest. she dies in his arm, never officially saying 'i love you' or forgiving him. ivan quickly mourns the lost of his sister, and joins erik, not believing in his cause, but wanting to keep his promise to his sister. anastasia is buried in charles' family graveyard.
