Chapter 3

I was wondering, what if Cholo and I never met after our unexpected meet-up in the butterfly meadows a few years ago? Thinking all the years that had passed, it is possible that Cholo would eventually forget me—and all the things we did there. But here we are now, we still knew each other and we're in France and on a new adventure to set in.

Knowing that he could totally forget me would be possible pero nandito pa rin kaming dalawa ngayon. We still enjoyed each other's company and for how long that will last, iyon ang hindi ako sigurado.

"Hindi mo pa ba uubusin 'yang baguette, Limer?" tanong ni Cholo sa kanyang anak. Mistulang naging baby niya kasi sa ayos nang pagka-kakarga niya.

Natawa naman si Limer. "Hindi. Babaunin ko 'to sa biyahe natin. 'Di ba, matagal biyahe natin sa train?"

"He's right nga naman," pagsang-ayon ko pa. "And I think it's not wrong to carry baguette around. And it's a hard bread, pwede na ring pang self-defense."

"Oh, don't say that to anyone around some French people," babala sa akin ni Alfie. "They love their baguette and it's not what they use for self-defense."

"Oh, okay... I apologize for that. I was just joking." Napangiwi na lang din naman ako.

"That's alright. No problem," Alfie said. "Are we all ready to go?"

"Yes, we are, monsieur!" sagot ni Cholo.

After our little tour earlier at the Eiffel tower at sa mga nalalapit na tourist spots there, we make most of our time there before we head back to our hotel. Ngayon, dala-dala na namin ang mga gamit namin, Alfie, one who guided us, is here with us now para dalhin kami sa metro station na magdadala naman sa amin sa Acote d'Azur. He kept reminding us that it would be a long ride and I'm not against long rides.

To think na nakayanan naming dalawa ni Cholo ang five-day road trip. Sa pagkatatanda ko, we only took a few times para makaligo. It was hard back then, but we enjoyed every single day and moment of it. Because after that day, everything came back to normal as if nothing happened.

But, it's good to know that someone like Cholo became one of my closest friends.

Nauna namang bumaba sina Alfie at Limer.

"Akin na 'yang backpack mo," utos ni Cholo pero hindi ako sumang-ayon. "I still can carry that. Mukhang hindi naman mabigat."

"'Wag kang makulit. Kaya ko naman 'to. Bitbit-bitbit mo na nga maleta ni Limer, e."

"I'm just trying to be a gentleman here, Zo."

"Weh? Talaga ba?" I smirked.

He rolled his eyes as if he was offended. "You know I am. But if you don't want, then let's move on. We don't have the luxury to miss the train."

"Sabi ko nga..."

Pinauna naman akong maglakad pababa ni Cholo para incase makita niyang mahirapan ako, he can carry it for me pero mas mukhang mauuna pa akong dumaosdos sa first floor bago pa mangyari 'yon.
