2 months have passed since the incident.
I have gotten closer to light more than I ever did since the last 4 years of me being his neighbour.
And I also somehow got all the memories of this body back, idk... I just woke up with them one day...
Currently we are walking to school together(I abandoned the idea of taking that short cut thinking it's too much of a drag).
"Btw y/n, my mother invited you to dinner today", light informs me.
"Is that so... well, free food. I'll be there at around 7 pm.", I reply.
"Yes and please do wear something neat...this is my first time I am bringing up a friend home I want to make a good impression", light pleads.
"You are bringing home your friend, not your girlfriend", I tease him, and light punches my shoulder lightly.
So we reach school and go to our class.
Actually I didn't realise on the first day that light was in the same class as me, it was on the second day that I came to know the fact.
*Time skip to lunch*
As the lunch time comes I take my bento box and head out.
I find a good spot on the rooftop cleanse of all trash-... I mean... people, just me, myself and I-,"oh y/n I finally found you" light bursts in through the door.
"let's eat together", light says and sits down beside me.
"Haha you really want to sit with me??
My... those fangirls of yours already glare daggers at me, at this rate I think they are going to kill me soon...", I say this in the most sarcastic way possible.
Light laughs it off ."Anyways what's the next period?"I changed the subject.
" It's political science. "
"Hmmm...."
The rest of the break we spend listening to the wind blowing and all the worries beneath us.
But soon the break ended and we both went back to our class.
The political science began.
The teacher walked in and all the students became silent. "So students today we will learn about law and justice..."
The teacher announces. As the lesson progresses, I realise how much similar it is to the political science class in the death note musical and I internally frown.
'wait so is light going to argue with the teacher or is he going to say nothing...whatever if he doesn't say anything, I'll do it'.
"That which we can law, is the suppression of people when they come under another's rules", the teacher explains and without light knowing I look for his reaction but his face shows no emotions.
"Under the retain of law on cannot live freely... What I'd like to impress upon is that man that is, amongst all spicies of the animal kingdom, is the most noble. However without law and justice he would probably become to the worst of them all..."the teacher finishes.
I wait for light's reaction, 'are you going to speak up light or was the argument in the musical all in your head??...well if he isn't doing it, then I am...'
I raise my hand, which doesn't go unnoticed by light and the teacher.
"Sensei, but law and justice are completely different things, right??" I ask the teacher with a frown on my face.
"certainly, but they are like two faces of the same coin, one could say",the teacher replies.
I swear I could hear a mixture of guitar and piano forming a beautiful allegiance in the background,
'i-is this my theme?? But how-... Let's not question anime logic..'
" Is that right?? Aren't we just binding two different things to each other?..." I argue.
"L/n-kun it seem you have an objection to state?"
"Where is the justice
When the guilty all go free?
Why don’t we lock them up
And throw away the key?"
"I see a young man’s anger
Burning in your eyes;", the teacher comments.
"What you see is my impatience
With your noble compromise", I reply.
"Show me what’s right about the wrongs that we allow
Real people need to feel protected here and now;
This whole damn system’s broken way beyond repair

Not much good and seldom fair", I say
"Laws were made for everyone
We’re treated all the same", one of my classmate intervenes.
"Till a lawyer’s tricks can fix the blame;
What about the victims
Waiting for some justice?
How can we turn away
And say that's just the way things are?
What about the families
Hiding in their houses
All of them afraid to walk the street at night
With all their doors locked tight

"Your simple arguments have all been made before...

The choice not either, or", the teacher argues.
"Perhaps it's time we drain the color from within
Till we're back to seeing black and white
And wrong and right again", I reply
"Overwrought pronouncements won't improve the paradigm", the teacher explains.
"Till lawyers cutting deals becomes a crime;
Let the corporations make the regulations
And all go unaccountable when everything goes wrong;
Let the rich and famous get away with murder;
Every time a high-priced mouth piece starts to talk
His client gets to walk;
Tell me where is the justice?
If there’s any justice"
I could see the last straw breaking inside the teacher, he says "that's just the way it is we have to accept it".
"But Sensei what good is law that can't punish those who break it??"
"THAT'S IT Y/N DETENTION FOR YOU!!"
I quietly sit down as I expected something like this to happen. Suddenly the bell rings, showing the end of the period. The rest of the day I say silent, not speaking a single words. I wasn't depressed or sad from the exchange with the teacher, actually it was quite the opposite. This whole time I was holding back a laugh and I was worried if I spoke another word, I would end up laughing like a maniac.
Just like this school ended, and it was time for everyone to go home. "Ah light I think we got to shift the dinner to 8 pm."I say, "YOU THINK?!? you should have kept your mouth shut at that time... plus your way to thinking has a lot of flaws" Light scolds me. "Gomen gomen I just lost control at that time" I say, 'light you say my thinking is flawed, yet you think the same way'.
"Well let's meet at your home at 8, I'll be there",I say as I wave good bye to light.
"Yeah see you"
As light walks towards his home I head towards my detention.
