VANI POV

I never thought I'd ever say this but... the blood isn't so bad.

It's kinda sweet, actually. Reminds me of Ribena.

I can't believe I just thought that.

Axel catches me practically gulping down the forbiden beverage and his smirk, which, by the way, has annoyingly not left his face for the whole dinner, widens.

Seriously, how do you smirk and eat at the same time?!

"Enjoying your drink?" He says.

I smile sweetly. "I don't see how that's any of your buisness."

Really? That was the best I could come up with?

I'll be eaten alive.

"Well," he said casually, "It's everyone's duty to ensure the new vampires get settled in. So I wanted to know if you were enjoying the blood."

Jerk.

Come on, Vani, surely you can think of something smart to say back...

"Well, you look like you're enjoying your drink."

Oh my god.

Axel snorts. "Let me guess, you've never had a friend before."

"Mmm... you sure you're not talking about you?"

Whoo! Take that, Axel!

"Pretty sure, clumsy girl. I mean... come on. It's a no brainer."

I scowl. "Do you ever shut up?"

"Do you ever stop being rude?" He throws back.

"Excuse me? I didn't start this."

"Says the hypocrite."

I flinch.

Thankfully, I'm saved by Victor.

"VANI! HOW'S THE FOOD."

"IT'S GOOD. THANKS, VICTOR."

Demetri looks at us strangely. "Why are you shouting? You sit next to each other."

Before I can explain, Victor whispers, "Vani's mentally challenged. I have to speak like this so she understands."

Axel bursts out laughing. Loudly.

Jerk. I hope he chokes.

"I'M NOT MENTALLY CHALLENGED! VICTOR'S THE ONE WHO'S CRAZY! HE JUST STARTED SHOUTING AT ME FOR NO REASON SO I SHOUTED BACK!" I protest.

"But... you're not?"

"Why would you think that?"

"Well, you were wearing a wooden peg on your nose, so..."

Axel starts laughing so hard he falls of his chair.

Jerk.

Two days later

"Vani, are you ready?" It's Victor. Turns out, he can actually speak normally.

"Yep." I lie. It's my first time arriving at campus of Monster School. It isn't actually called that, obviously, but I don't bother to remember the actual name, since it's supposedly spoken in ancient atlantean.

It's Sunday, sadly, which means I have classes tomorrow. I wonder what we're going to learn. Victor told me that we learn the essential vampire skills, along with those normal acedemics. At least I was always the top student. Having no friends came with lots of free time.
