Percy's POV:
There is something remarkable about someone baring their soul, their pain to you.
Andrew, this recruit whom I didn't think was going to make it out of bootcamp, stands before me with tears coursing down his face. There is something so femine about his features -- nothing bad of course.
And I refrain from reaching out to wipe those tears.
I gulp.
Percy. I am sinking, so far, down, down, down into the ground.
"I will pull you back up," is the first thing I say. I mentally facepalm. After everything he just told me, I said one sentence. Seriously, Percy.
"What?" his word is so faint.
The air feels so still, as if someone stopped time and is watching this -- whatever this is. This feeling, this connection, this person in my life, this friend, this best friend.
"You said you were sinking," I say, scrambling to make sense. "I will pull you back up."
He nods. That is all we need. I hadn't realized he moved during the speech - but then again, I was so caught up with the words that resonated with me and kicked me in the gut.
I speak one last time, allowing him to pull me up from my sitting spot, "Gather the men that are suitable for battle. We leave in seven minutes."
Have a great day/night wherever you are! - The Fangirl
