•Ayla Blacks POV•

Hogwarts, a place that most students are ecstatic to get back to. Me on the other hand, I'm not the most excited.

I'm Ayla, Ayla Black. My mother? She ran as soon as I was born, left me with my father to fend for myself.

My father? Sirius Black. I believe that says enough in itself.

And where am I at now? Well with my mother being who knows where and my father in Azkaban, I got sent to live with my godfather and uncle.

And well, everyone knows the tragic story of the Potters. I don't believe I need to elaborate further.

So that leaves me with my person (who refuses to go by my guardian), Remus Lupin. Whose quite literally saved my life.

He's finally starting to teach again, so I at least have one friendly face at Hogwarts.

Dumbledore asked at the beginning of this summer if Lupin would be willing to come back to Hogwarts and teach Defense Against the Dark Arts. I'm sure you can assume why, I mean, it's Remus Lupin.

"Ayls, we gotta head out sweetheart we can't be late" He yelled from downstairs.

I'm so unprepared for this year to start.

"You excited?" He asked as we got into the car.

"As I can be" I said

"Hey you never know, maybe people will be different this year Kiddo, maybe give someone a chance" He said

"Eh, I mean, it's fifth year, I only have 3 full years including this one, I'll survive, then I can work at the ministry after or something, 3 years won't kill me" I said

"You're growing up too fast Ayla, you never did the kid thing, you just hid yourself away, have fun, get in trouble for once kiddo" He said

"You're one to talk about growing up too fast, you kept to yourself til Minnie introduced you to the Marauders, you didn't do anything til then, I have time" I said

"And I regret my decisions greatly of not getting out and being friendly sooner Ayls, I just don't want you to feel as alone as I did kiddo" He said

"Well you'll see when we get there, the looks, people always asking if I'm quote on quote 'gonna live up to daddy's legacy', people drawing pictures of dark marks in class and throwing them at me, I'm treated like I'm a monster for something that dad didn't even do" I said

"Ayla, I promise you'll meet your Marauders, even if it's not exactly the Marauders because I wouldn't wish that on you, walking into Sirius' pranks, and trying to understand Peter with his stutter, or when James wasn't helping Sirius blow something up he was pawning after Lily, our worlds never stopped turning, but for lack of a better description, you'll find your Sirius, I can promise that" He said

"You'll promise I'll find my Sirius, or I'll find my Sirius" I said wiggling my eyebrows at him.

"Ayla how many times do I have to tell you, Sirius and I love each other, but solely platonically" He said

"I don't know, Lupin" I said

"Shake your wit before this place does it for you" He said with a laugh as we pulled into King Cross station.

Guess it's time to do this again.

I hopped out of the car, not seeing many people I recognized, I went comfortable today, my hair up loosely in a half up half down look, glasses resting gently on my face, ripped jeans, a graphic tee, and a dung up pair of chuck taylor's, just kept it casual.
