"Hey, Ennoshita. Do you ever think about things like love?" Tanaka asked out of the blue, taking his eyes off his textbook to face the brunette.

Ennoshita's face flushed. "Sometimes. Why do you ask?"

"I was just wondering. Now, could you help me with this problem? I can't get it," Tanaka whined, pushing the book toward Ennoshita and pushing that information into the bookshelf of his mind.

~~

"Tanaka! Get off there!" Ennoshita yelled, his face flushed with frustration. Tanaka had somehow managed to climb up to the top of the volleyball net, now perched on top of the pole that held it up.

"One problem with that, I have no clue how to get down," Tanaka called back, looking around to see if there was an option he had missed.

"Of course, you idiot," Ennoshita mumbled under his breath. "Do you want to try and jump? I can catch you."

"Sure, man! Watch out below!" Tanaka yelled, slipping off the top of the pole. Ennoshita barely had any time to move into position but got his arms out in time to catch the wing spiker. Tanaka now sat cradled in Ennoshita's arms, in the same way a groom would carry his new bride. Tanaka wasn't going to kid himself, being in the arms of his crush felt like heaven. And from this angle, he could see every fleck of gold that dotted Ennoshita's eyes.

"Tanaka, would you mind getting out. You're too heavy," Ennoshita said after a moment, voice strained. Tanaka nodded and placed his feet on the floor, slipping out of Ennoshita's arms.

"Now, we need to get home. We need to study for that math test you're for sure going to fail."

Tanaka let out a low groan at the thought of studying but soon followed Ennoshita to the club room. He may hate studying, but he for sure didn't hate the person who helped him.

"Dude! You have to say something!" Noya complained, resting his chin on his hands. Quite honestly, he was sick of hearing Tanaka gush over Ennoshita without doing anything about his crush.

"But I can't! What if he hates me afterward?"

"I can promise you he won't! He obviously has a thing for you and will definitely accept your confession. And if he doesn't, I'll buy you melon bread for the next four weeks, ok?"

Tanaka took a deep breath. "Ok," He paused. "But what if-"

"No! No what if's! I've seen the way he looks at you. He blushed every time you touch him, for god's sake!"

Tanaka thought for a moment, worrying his bottom lip with his teeth.

"So, how should I do it?"

"That's the spirit!" Noya exclaimed, slapping his friend on the back.

"So, we're going to start with..."

~~

"Ok, just like we planned, ok?" Noya whispered to Tanaka. They were in the second year's hallway, setting up for Tanaka's confession. Noya looked around the corner, seeing Ennoshita strolling leisurely down the hallway.

"You got this, bro. I'll be at the gates when you're finished," Noya said, giving his friend one last reassuring pat on the back.

Tanaka thanked him and Noya ran out, quickly making his way to the school gates. It was deserted, the only living beings there being himself and a pair of pigeons picking bread crumbs off the ground.

Noya waited for ten minutes. Then fifteen. Then twenty.

A confession should not take this long, Noya thought, running a hand through his spiked hair. Suddenly his phone started to ring with the special ringtone he had set for Tanaka.

Noya picked up the call. "Hey, bro! How'd it go!" Noya exclaimed, a wide smile gracing his face.

The other side of the call was quiet for a moment before Noya heard the unmistakable sound of a sob.

"You owe me melon bread for the next four weeks," Tanaka said, voice scratchy. The called disconnected suddenly, Tanaka ending it.

"Oh, Ryuu," Noya whispered at his phone, quickly setting off in search of his friend.
