I shut my car door and ran up onto the sidewalk, frowning when noticing Andy standing at the end of a line outside Ivy's.
I scan the area for paparazzi, a relived sigh leaving my mouth when seeing that the coast was clear. I quickly scurry to where Andy stood, the short brunette finally looking up from her phone. "Took you long enough" She groaned, putting her phone back into her small purse.I look around, insulted that she blamed the busy celebrity for not being on time. "You could've easily waited inside" I gesture my arm up to the door about 20 feet away from us.
She groans and leans up against the wall, dodging my judgy eyes. "I would've if they'd let me in."
My brows furrow, confused. "Didn't you set up reservations like 3 days ago?" I ask, trying to piece things together.
Andrea turns to me and nods, eyes wide with irritation. "Yeah, I did. And, when they asked me for the names at the front, they told me it was a bunch of bullshit."
"What'd you tell them?" I question, searching for whoever was at the front doors.
"I told them it was for Andrea Bennett, Brooklyn Gray and--" She stops herself, simply shaking her head and pushing off the wall in hopes that I wouldn't notice how quick she was to keep her little boyfriend's name from me. I don't think much of it, more annoyed that they wouldn't let her through. "They said there was no way I was having dinner with the Brooklyn Gray and told me to wait in line like everyone. It's Sunday, Ivy's always has--"
"--lower prices on Sunday. Yeah, I know." I say, sighing.
Andrea and I came to Ivy's almost every week. It was the first place we found when moving to Los Angeles and we've been regulars ever since. The cook knew me personally and we were decently close with every waiter there. Hearing that some dumbass wouldn't let us go in made me wonder if they were hiring anyone new around this time of year.I grab onto Andy's wrist and pull her past the long line of people. Some heads turned to me, their eyes widening when recognizing who I was. "Is that Brooklyn Gray?" "Oh my god, Brook Gray is here..." I heard people whisper to themselves, a confident smirk pulling at my lips.
We make it to the front and I politely excuse myself to the couple at the front of the line. Shocked to see me there, they quickly nod and step aside for Andy and I.
Just like I had assumed, this guy was new. He was a kid, shitting himself enough as it is with a line of hungry people yelling at him to let them inside."Hey, we had a reservation. It should be under Andrea Bennett." I say with a straight face, his eyes filling with horror once they locked with my blue ones. I watch him scurry through his list of reservations, panic in every movement.
I turn to Andrea and smirk. She's impressed by how quickly things get done with this kind of power. He stammers a bit and looks back up. "I'm sorry but I can't find an Andrea Bennett anywhere on the list" He said, my brows furrowing.
"Try Brooklyn Gray" I say, reajusting my posture.
If Andy makes me flirt with this 19 year old kid to get inside, I swear to god I'm gonna kill her. After dinner though... 'cause I'm starving. After looking through the list again, he shakes his head and I sigh. I feel Andy squeeze my arm tightly, trying to signal me to use my celebrity super powers to get a table. I lean onto the counter, my lips pulling into a smirk. "Look, I've had a long day..." I say with a hint of sadness in my tone. "My friend and I just want to have dinner. We come here all the time... I don't want to have to leave a bad review..."
"U-um..." He squeaked out.
"That's 78 million people... 78.3 to be exact..." I mutter, looking away for some kind of dramatic effect.
