Talking with the Psiioniic calmed the Condensce down enough for her to question her own actions. Unfortunately, when he died in the Vast Glub, she became so angry and upset that she reverted to her old ways to spite him, subconsciously thinking that if she did, he'd come back to her.
He, of course, never did.
