"It's time." The officer at the door told Tristan.
When he left, we both stood up.
"I'm going to get the meds." He explained.
As he attempted to leave, I stopped him by hugging him.
"Thank you," I said in his ear.
"Look, I know you're not technically my daughter, but we will always be family." He answered.
He then proceeds to leave. It took him a while before he came back with an ivy kit. Soon Travis was shoved into the same room. He got up and immediately and tried to fight Tristan. I immediately got in the middle of them.
"Grace, get out of my way." He demanded.
"No, we can't fight this. I-It's over." I walked close to him.
I hugged him.
"Okay," He kissed my forehead.
"So, who will be first?" Tristen asked.
"I will," Travis responded.
I grabbed his hand, and he walked to the chair. I kissed him.
"See you on the other side, nerd," I whispered in his ear.
He then passed out.
"I guess it's my turn," I said.
As I headed to the chair next to Travis.
"Take a deep breath," Tristan instructed.
I was out. I don't remember when I woke up. The next thing I knew, I was surrounded by a puddle of my blood. This is when the adrenaline kick in. Well, what I thought was adrenaline at the time, with a ringing in my ear. I got up and ran into the unknown town. A lady who was running stopped to help me.
"Hey, are you okay?" She asked.
I placed Travis on the ground behind me and then fell into her arms.
"No, we are not."
I then proceeded to throw up.
"Are you from Kardia?"
I shook my head yes. She fished her phone out of her pocket. I passed out on the ground. I woke up again in a hospital room. A nurse walked in. She was looking at a clipboard until she got to my bed. She looked up to see me awake. After that, everything went in slow motion.
Her clipboard dropped to the ground as she ran out of the room. Doctors soon flooded my room like the splitting of the sea. Travis ran through the mob.
"Holy shit!"
He stopped in shock. He then slowly walked closer to me. We hugged, and the group of doctors in unison said.
"Awe!"
Soon after that, the group left. Travis followed them out and closed the door.
"Hi!" I said.
"Have you told anyone your name?" He questioned.
"No, I just woke up."
"Okay, good."
"What about you?"
"No, I told them about the trauma endured in kardia made me forget my name."
"Oh, why didn't you just make up a name on the spot?"
"I-I couldn't think of one."
I began to laugh.
"Ow, Ow, ow!"
I winced as I grabbed my side. He held my other hand and sat next to me.
"Are we safe?" I asked.
"I'm not sure." He responded.
He kissed my forehead. Before I could answer, a lady walked into the room. She looked like a smaller, younger version of my mom.
"Hi?" Travis asked.
"Hello, my name is Wren, and I have a house for the misplaced youth of kardia." She explained.
"Holy shit!" I said.
"What?" Travis questioned.
"Do you have a sister?"
"Yes?" She answered, confused.
"Is her name Eliza?"
"Yes."
"I-I'm her daughter."
"Holy shit."
"Yep."
"Let me guess Amy and Roger found out you knew your heritage."
"Yeah."
"God Dammit."
"So, how many people are at this house?"
"A lot."
"How many?"
"Forty-six."
"Holy shit."
"How can you afford them, Let alone us?" Travis pipped in.
"I work for soma." She explained.
Travis and I immediately began to panic.
"Believe me; you're safe...I get funding from the government." She explained.
Travis grabbed my hand.
"Hey Wren, can we talk this over," I asked.
"Ya, I will leave you alone."
She left the room.
"What do you think?" I asked Travis.
"Do you think we can trust her?" He asked.
"We?"
"Yeah, I'm not leaving you, grace. We are in this together."
I kissed him.
"Okay, she is my family."
"Grace, you can't trust the family, you know."
"I know, I know... I-It's a place we can recuperate, and we can leave at any time."
"Okay, Let's do it."
