Hiccup looked at his newly clawed paws. They were pitch black and covered in scales.

This must be his spirit form! But then, what even was he?

Hiccup looked behind him and saw two leathery appendages coming from his back. His heart dropped, suddenly getting a very very bad feeling. Hiccup tried to turn to get a better look at his back.

He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw a tail-like appendage following him around. The tail had two fins at the end of it.

No no no-no-no. He couldn't be a dragon. No Viking has ever become a dragon before and it wasn't going to start with him, right?

Hiccup tried to lick his lips out of nervousness but instead, he felt his tongue cross over many extremely pointy teeth.

Hiccup pawed his face, it felt longer and wider, there were also several appendages on top of his head. Hiccup could feel the leathery appendages on his back the more he focused on them. He could feel his, his, his tail.

Hiccup looked around and saw a puddle of water. He stumbled over to it on two legs and looked down at it.

Two bright green dragon eyes stared right back at him.

Oh, gods.

He was a dragon!

The gods must be punishing him for saying he wouldn't kill a dragon!

Hiccup began to panic. If anyone found out he could be killed! No Viking has ever got a dragon spirit form before!

Hiccup looked himself over again. What type of dragon was he? He's never seen a dragon quite like himself.

Hiccup's hearing and his smell were heightened in this form as well. Hiccup could hear shouting Vikings, roaring dragons, and smell burning fires. There must be a dragon raid happening.

He then heard Vikings approaching the woods; not good. If they saw him, he'd have no way of telling that he was a Viking in spirit form. Even if he did find a way he wouldn't be able to know whether the angry Vikings wouldn't try to kill him.

He had to run.

Hiccup got on all fours and clumsily ran as fast as he could. He ran and ran. He didn't want to die.

Suddenly, Hiccup tripped on a root and he felt himself go flying. Not in a good way. Then, he felt himself falling.

He fell into a hidden cove.

Hiccup felt himself hit the ground hard on one of his wings and he let out a roar of agony at the feeling of a jagged rock slicing through his flesh.

He trembled as he tried to stand up. He was in so much pain it was almost unbearable. Hiccup was so overwhelmed by all these new heightened senses and extra appendages he felt like crying.

Apparently, dragons can't really cry. They can only whine and moan. Hiccup bet he looked pathetic.

A very distinct whistle sounded from the sky. A Night Fury whistle and it sounded too close for comfort.

Night Fury's are the most dangerous dragon known to Berk. The unholy offspring of lightning and death itself. No one knows what it looks like and Hiccup was not looking to be the first to find out.

He stumbled painfully behind a rock, trying to stay out of sight. That's when he heard the Night Fury land in the cove. Hiccup started shaking in fear.

"Hello?" An unfamiliar voice called out. Hiccup froze. Did the Night Fury just talk?! Hiccup listened as the dragon walked around, probably trying to find Hiccup so it could eat him. Hiccup's breaths became more frequent and shallow.

"I can hear you," The Night Fury said. "I won't hurt you, I heard the sound of you in pain so I flew over here to see if you needed help."

Hiccup let out a whine of fear. It was lying. He knew it. This dragon probably wants to kill him. The sound of Hiccup's whining gave his hiding position away and he heard the Night Fury shuffle closer to the rock he was hiding behind.

He heard the Night Fury jump on top of the rock so it could look down on him before it could kill Hiccup. But what he heard instead was a gasp of surprise.

Hiccup looked up and met the face of the unholy offspring of lightning and death itself. Who looked exactly like Hiccup.

Oh god.

Did this mean Hiccup was a Night Fury?!

"You're just like me, I thought I was the only Night Fury left!" The other Night Fury exclaimed happily. Hiccup was too scared to reply. The Night Fury's face contorted into one of concern when he saw the fear on Hiccup's face and quickly changed into one of horror when he saw the deep gash on Hiccup's wing.

"That can't feel good, let me help you," The Night Fury said kindly, stepping towards Hiccup. Hiccup took a step back and looked fearfully at the dragon. The Night Fury stopped his approach and looked Hiccup dead in the eye.

"I won't hurt you. I promise. You can trust me," The Night Fury said calmly. Somehow, Hiccup felt himself calm down slightly. Not all the way. But he believed that this dragon wouldn't try and hurt him. As far as the dragon knew, Hiccup was just a dragon, not a human.

The Night Fury reached Hiccup and it started sniffing at the wound.

"It doesn't smell infected but we should keep it clean just to prevent it," The Night Fury noted. Hiccup still didn't say anything. The Night Fury then started licking Hiccup's wing?! Hiccup flinched and backed away from the dragon.

"I'm sorry I should have warned you. I'm going to lick your wound because, you know, our saliva has healing properties so it should help heal your wing," The Night Fury said as if that was obvious. Hiccup only blinked in reply but reluctantly scooched back towards the dragon.

The Night Fury gently licked the wound clean being careful not to cause Hiccup any extra pain or discomfort. When it finally finished it back up a bit and looked at Hiccup.

"I'll go get some fish for you, it'll give you energy so you can heal faster," The Night Fury said, then bounded off towards the pond in the cove. Hiccup silently watched the dragon collect three in its mouth before bounding back to Hiccup and dropping the fish in front of him.

Hiccup stared at The Night Fury. Did the dragon expect him to eat raw fish? The dragon looked at the fish and then looked back up at Hiccup. Apparently yes. He was expected to eat the raw fish. Hiccup didn't want to make The Night Fury suspicious. If he didn't eat the fish, he could run the chance of The Night Fury finding out he was actually human!

Hiccup approached one of the fishes slowly. He grabbed the tail end of the fish and like instinct, Hiccup had thrown his head back and very quickly swallowed the fish. He blinked in surprise at the automatic response to the fish. The fish didn't taste all that bad much to his surprise.

Hiccup finished the other two fish and then looked back up at The Night Fury who was patiently waiting for Hiccup.

"Now that you've got some food, I recommend that we sleep, then we'll see how you feel tomorrow," The Night Fury said. Hiccup nodded. The Dragon started breathing his plasma blasts to heat the earth and then he curled up, facing Hiccup. Hiccup blinked at the dragon, the dragon blinked back.

Hiccup closed his eyes and felt darkness encase him.
