The sun had began to rise in the horizon, dissolving a warm reddish-orange hue into the sky.

Y/N had changed out of her dress into a simple black hoodie, high-waist pants and slipped on one of Nathan's jean jacket over it.

After their reunion combat and cleaning up, the two had headed out to a nearby shawarma place that Y/N insisted that they go to.

"Hmm, not bad," Nathan approved the shawarma after taking a bite from it, leaning back on the passenger seat as Y/N drove the car.

"Told ya," Y/N half shrugged, "So, about what we were discussing,"

"Georgi Luchkov. He knows stuff. He sells weapons. Whatever Pierce Jr. is planning, I'm pretty sure he has a part in it."

"We need to kidnap him for questioning."

"We?" Nathan raised his eyebrows, "Who's we?"

"You and I," she glanced at him, "Who else would I talk about? Speaking of, come up with an idea. Quick. We gotta act fast."

"I don't have any ideas,"

"What kind of criminal are you, Nathan?" Y/N gave a look, "I'm very disappointed in you."

"Shut up, idiot. Now you come up with an idea."

"Why should I come up with an idea?"

"Because you're an Avenger."

"You're a criminal. You might have some tricks up your sleeve."

"I got nada," Nathan lifted and dropped his shoulders in defeat.

"Okay," she pulled the car up on the side of the road, "Go to the pharmacy and get some rubbing alcohol and bleach. We can make chloroform with those. And then we can take him for questioning."

"I'm not your servant. Go get it yourself," he crossed his arms stubbornly, "And wait, hold on just a second, who said I'm coming with you?"

"I did."

"I'm not gonna risk my life for you," Nathan started, "I already died once just for becoming close with you and they thought I was a liability. Holding you back."

"You got me back for that for trying to kill me," she rolled her eyes.

"I never wanted to kill you."

"The men you sent after me did otherwise. You sent the damned  Winter Soldier after me," she glared at him, "Now, let's go. We don't have all day."

"No, Like I said, I'm not helping you."

"Why not?" she rested her hands on the steering wheel.

"Because I don't want to," he replied, "Y/N I'm serious. I don't want anything to do with you and your mess."

"Then why did you even get in the car in the first place?!"

"Only because you promised me free food," he defended, "You're no good at all."

Y/N stared ahead in the front with a scowl, "I'm not who I once was. Or what my mother wanted me to be."

"That's exactly where you're wrong. A trail of dead body follows wherever you go, Y/N. You were made to be the best assassin by the Winter Soldier himself."

"You're one to talk to!" she scoffed, turning to him in her seat, "You sent him after me and your father smuggled little girls and sold them for a living, for crying out loud!"

"Don't you dare speak about him!" Nathan snapped, rising in his seat, "At least I was a product of love, unlike you! You're just a successful science experiment!" He froze with wide eyes and his jaw went slack as soon as he realized what he let slip.

Y/N's angered demeanour dropped and she stared at him for a few seconds, letting her shoulders drop. Both of them could hear her heart shatter at his words.

She nodded with a sarcastic smile and laughed slightly to hide her growing tears, "Get out."

"No, I'm sorry, Y/N. I didn't mean it."

"You wouldn't have even thought of it in the first place if you didn't mean it," she snarled, wiping the corner of her eye subtly.

"Please—"

"Nathan," she gripped the steering wheel; nails digging into it, "Don't make me do something I'll regret," she inhaled sharply, "Get out of the damn car."
