Asher, Nico, and Kathleen were in the hospital room, where Nathan was kept. An electrocardiography machine was beside the bed where Nathan was asleep, letting out rhythmic beeps to signify his heartbeat.

Asher was seated on the chair beside the bed, fingers tracing over Nathan's cheekbone. He recalled how Nathan had stepped up and saved them, even though they had planned on taking out her sister. As cliché as it might sound, being saved by a prince charming, Asher didn't care. He was falling for Y/N's brother and he knew it.

"We gotta go," Kathleen placed a hand on Asher's shoulder.

"Can we stay for a few minutes?" Asher asked with a pleading look, "Like, till he wakes up?" he nodded towards Nathan's unconscious form.

"Someone's in love," Nico smirked at him, "Gross," she added, pretending to gag.

"Shut up," Asher shoved her lightly and turned to spare a glance at Nathan. He followed the two out the door, pushing his fists into the pockets of his pants.

Lifting his head off the pillow, Nathan peeked open one eye and grinned lopsidedly at Asher's back, pursing his lips slightly in shyness.

"If you're done smiling like the idiot you are,"

Nathan turned towards the voice and saw Y/N standing in the corner of the room, wiping the lens of her glasses on the hem of her black shirt.

"What's gonna happen to them?" Nathan questioned.

"I've got them under S.H.I.E.L.D's eye," she nodded assuringly, "Elizabeth is in a coma stage though, currently. But those three will be safe. They'll be each getting a well-maintained living quarter at the edge of the city. Also, they've apologized like a hundred times while it was me who their families from them. I was stupid."

"You were ripped away from the Lawsons'. They were murdered right before your eyes," he defended her statement, "You were grieving,"

"It turned me into a psychopath," Y/N grumbled, words dripping with venom, "It shouldn't have. But it did. I didn't know what I was doing. I was impulsive and hungry for vengeance," she ran her hands through her hair, tugging slightly, "God, I hate what I am,"

Y/N sat on the edge of the bed and rolled her shoulders back, turning to face him.

He raised his eyebrows at her, "Are you gonna give me a speech about responsibility, choices, and heroes?"

"What? No," she gave him a look, "Come on. How jobless do you think I am to come up with one?"

"With your band split up, you are very much jobless."

She chuckled at his statement, grabbing hold of his hand, "Look I just wanna apologize," she took a deep breath, "Back in the Red Room; I'm sorry you had to take a bullet just because you were close to me."

Nathan's expression softened, "Hey, hey, you don't have to—"

"No," she held her other hand up to stop him, "I should. I've said a lot of things that I don't mean and I've hurt you without even meaning to. You are my brother. I shouldn't have let things go the way they had. I should've stepped up and tried to— When I saw your blood in my hands, I felt like it was on me—"

"Hey, hey. Come here," he brought her in a hug hastily and rested his chin on her shoulder, caressing the back of her head in an attempt to calm her down, "It's okay. I know. I know," he soothed, "None of it were your fault."

Pulling away, Y/N rested her forehead against his, both closing their eyes to share a moment of affection. Sunrays fell into the room through the window on the side, illuminating their faces.

"And I take back what I said," Nathan chirped, opening his eyes, " About you stepping on a Lego."

Y/N gave him a lazy grin, "I won't let anyone hurt you," she brought him into a hug again, wrapping her arms around his shoulder, "Not anymore. And I don't plan on losing you again."

"Aw, I feel so safe," Nathan mocked a pout, "My big show off, assassin-avenger sister will always be there to protect me."

"Assassin-Avenger?" Y/N pushed Nathan off of her with an annoyed look, "You ruined the moment. Get away from me!"

"Aw, don't be like that!" he grinned at her and pulled her into a hug, wrapping his arms around her shoulders and kissed her temple as she held hers at her sides grumpily.
