"Thought you could leave me Lan Zhan?"

With a smirk I followed him through the woods and observed the pouch that secured the Yin Iron tucked inside Lan Zhan's cloak. He was surprised to find me there but without another word was about to leave when I mischievously formed a thin red string from an incantation and bound our hands together.

"Look Lan Zhan! I learnt this spell recently. Amazing right?" With a snicker I continued, "This binds a person to me and it would be difficult for them to leave. Want to learn this trick?"

Without paying heed to my words he raised his hand and pulled me along, "Stop playing around."

As usual he was impassive and I was foolish in my mirth not to notice the tips of his lips curving into a small smile.

~ Present Day ~

Slowly as my eyes opened I found myself covered amidst the snow. Seems like I fell asleep here. Seems as if now even the soul chilling cold of Gusu winter does not bother me anymore. Raising my hand towards my face, I let the moonlight seep between my fingers and my gaze lands on the finger where once I had tied the red string to bind Lan Zhan with me.

Wasn't I the one who said that this string is so strong it would be difficult for the other person to leave me? Yet in the end you left me all alone Lan Zhan.

Why?

Chuckling sadly at that thought I looked up to watch more snowfall covering my face. Coldly uncaring for the person sleeping below I whispered to no one, "I can never blame you for leaving. It was me who had never made the promise to return. Would you forgive your Wei Ying, Lan Zhan?"

No answer.

Lan Zhan, was I so blind to have not noticed you or was my red string so feeble?

Again there was no answer.

It did not matter. Closing my eyes I let a lone tear trail down my eyes as I welcomed the cold seeping into my cloak. Second by second my body was getting numb and hoping with all my heart that this would bring my end; I heard his voice.

"Wei Ying."

With a gasp I opened my eyes wide and with a start I pulled myself up in search of his voice, "Are you here Lan Zhan?"

When there was no answer my soul was dejected again. How can you answer when you aren't even here?

With a sigh I was about to lie back on the snow covered ground when a small ball of fur moved next to me.

What is this?

A soft pink nose nudged my shin and on further inspection I found it was a bunny. Not just any bunny but the one we rescued from Elder Lan Yi's caves after she departed to the immortal realm.
