"Come on dad! We're gonna be late!" Emma called out standing at the door of her dads apartment
"Just a second princess!" Matt calls out
"It's my first day at my new school! I can't be late!" Emma shouts as Matt comes running down the stairs doing up his belt
"Okay! I'm ready! Have you got everything?" Matt asks putting on his jacket
"Yes dad I have!" Emma says holding up her bag
"Are you positive? You've got your lunch? Your snack? Your books? Pencils? Erasers? Rulers?" Matt asks
"Yes dad! Now let's go!" Emma says taking matts hand and dragging him out
Matt locks the door and they get in the car
"Are you excited?" Matt asks not taking his eyes off the road
"I guess" Emma says not too sure
"It's not gonna happen again Kiddo! I promise!" Matt says looking at Emma through the mirror
Emma just stares out of the window. Minutes later they arrive and Matt walks Emma in
"Hey there! This is my daughter Emma Casey! It's her first day here and we were meant to meet the principal?" Matt says
"Ahh yes! Welcome Emma! Your going to have the best time here! Mrs Allen will be right out!" The office lady says smiling
Matt and Emma sit down until Mrs Allen calls them into her office
"Hello! I'm Mrs Allen and you must be Mr Casey?" Mrs Allen says
"Call me Matt!" Matt says as he shakes her hand
"And this must be Emma!" Mrs Allen says as they sit down
"Hi!" Emma says shyly
"So Emma here is in 6th grade! Here is your new timetable! And if you need anything at all our staff would be happy to help as I understand Emma has had a bad past?" Mrs Allen says looking at Matt
"Yeah she has! Emma got bullied in her last school and it got really bad! But we've got over that and are going to have a great year aren't we Emma?" Matt says as Emma nods
"Well Emma! You have Drama first period with Miss Russell! I'll take you down there now!" Mrs Allen says as Emma gives Matt a hug
"Everything's gonna be okay! Now behave and I love you!" Matt says smiling
"Love you too dad!" Emma says as she walks out
"Make sure to swing by after school Mr Casey! For the parent teacher conferences!" Mrs Allen shouts
"Got it!" Matt shouts before walking out
Emma and Mrs Allen arrive at Miss Russell's classroom
"Is this our star of the day?" Laura asks
"Yes it is!" Mrs Allen says smiling
"You must be Emma! I'm Miss Russell your brand new drama teacher!" Laura says getting down to Emma's level
"The best teacher ever!" A boy calls out
"Thanks Jack! I'm flattered but you need to get back to that performance Mister!" Laura says smiling
"I'll take you off of Mrs Allen's hands and we can get you settled in!" Laura says smiling
Emma walks with Laura and Laura introduces her to some of the kids. It's after school and Laura is sitting in her classroom waiting for her parent teacher conference with Casey
"Sorry I'm late!" Casey says as he bursts in the door
"Don't worry about it! You must be Mr Casey?" Laura says as she smiles
"Uhh call me Matt! And you must be Uh Miss Russell?" Matt says shocked
"Yes I am! Im surprised you know my name already! I have parents that have known me since their child was in grade 1 and they still don't know my name!" Laura says as she laughs
"Yeah! My mom swung by the firehouse after she picked up Emma and she loves you!" Matt says smiling
"I'm flattered! Now how about we sit down and get started?" Laura says pointing to a seat
