Laura was sat colouring in with Emma, they hadn't discussed the meeting with the head teacher yet. Laura was still getting used to the whole step mom thing and didn't want to overstep. Matt was sat in the kitchen filling out some paperwork.
"One second sweetie" Laura smiled as she got up and made her was into the kitchen
"You alright?" Matt asked barely taking his eyes off of the paperwork sat in front of him
"Are you not going to talk to her?" Laura asked
"I'm waiting for the right time" Matt argued
"The right time? It's been 2 days Matt. You need to talk to her" Laura said
"I said I'll talk to her when I'm ready!" Matt raised his voice
Laura sighed before walking back into Emma's room to colour.
"Laura!" Matt sighed
"Goodnight sweetie" Laura said as she tucked Emma into bed
"Is daddy coming in to say Goodnight?" Emma asked
"Daddy's working, but you know he loves you right?!" Laura smiled
"I know" Emma smiled
"I'll see you in the morning monkey" Laura smiled before walking out
Laura walked into their living room to see Matt still drowning over paperwork.
"I'm sure boden wouldn't mind if you handed them in a day late" Laura said softly
"I need to get them done! For the families sake" Matt argued
"It's not your fault Matt" Laura said
"What?" Matt asked, his eyes finally being drawn away from his paperwork
"Loren going missing, it's not your fault" Laura said
"I should have known she wasn't a real nurse, we could be sat here with Loren right now. Not sitting wondering if she's going to end up in a body bag by the time we find her" Matt raised his voice
"No one could have known, you hear me? It's not your fault Matt" Laura smiled as she sat down next to him
"You can breath now, we're in this together" Laura smiled as she hugged him
It was the following morning and Laura had made her way to the district
"Anything?" She asked
"We wish we had good news for you, we really do" Jay explained
"That's 5 months Jay, what is the probability of us finding her?" Laura asked
Jay sighed
"Low, very low" Jay explained
"But we're going to do everything we can" Kim smiled
"Yeah, I know. I've gotta run. It's my first day back today" Laura smiled
"Are you sure your ready?" Jay asked
"I have to be, my Mat leave is up" Laura shrugged as she walked out
"Good morning guys!" Laura smiled as her class began to walk in
"Miss Russell!" The whole class yelled as they ran over to her
"Oh my!" Laura laughed
"Is Uhm, your baby okay?" A boy asked from the back of the group
"I'm not sure" Laura sighed
All the children's smiles slowly faded
"Anyway! You all need to tell me what you've been up to whilst I've been away! I heard the school play is coming on great!" Laura smiled as all of the kids sat at their desks
Laura returned home to find an empty house with Casey lying on the kitchen island, he must have fallen asleep whilst trying to tackle the mountain of paperwork he had. Emma was staying the night with Kelly. Laura grabbed a blanket from the couch and wrapped it around him. She then poured herself a glass of wine and sat down on the couch. Just as she got comfortable she heard a knock at the door, she opened it to reveal Chris along with Hondo.
"Guys?! Your in Chicago?" Laura asked
Hondo and Chris exchanged a look with each other
"Did you find her?" Laura asked
Chris sighed
"Talk to me!" Laura yelled
