Once Charlie and I were done getting ready we met the team to eat breakfast. I sat between Charlie and Julie. She knew something happened because she was nudging me and whispering, I gave her a signal that I'd tell her later. We were all talking till Mr.Tibbles grabbed our attention. "Ta-da" All of us gasp. We're on a wheaties box. I smiled and I looked at Julie then Charlie. Charlie paid attention to me, he was always asking if I was alright. It always made me feel safe and at home.  Gosh, when I looked into his eyes, those dazzling eyes. I knew I liked charlie conway. I was snapped back to reality when Dwayne called out "Hey, y'all. That's us!" We all laughed at the comment and stopped when Mr.Tibbles cleared his throat to say "Today, It's a wheaties box. Tomorrow, It's video games, action figures, lunch boxes. The sky is the limit. Now, just to make sure that everybody knows who you are, try on one of these." He held up a USA jersey. They were red, white, and blue of course. I looked over at Charlie and smiled but he had a confused look plastered on his face. I turn my attention back to Mr.Tibbles saying "Brought to you by those wonderful people at Hendrix...For all your hockey needs. Fulton, there you go. Coach. Everybody take your own. I'm not gonna give 'em out to everybody." Everyone rushed over to get their jersey. My sister was always 6 and I was always 97. I guess we chose our numbers out of favorites. I grab charlies and I start walking over to him and Coach talking. "It's business stuff, Charlie. Don't worry about it." Coach says walking away. I could tell Charlie was upset. "Hey, Conway. Smile and put on your jersey." I smile at him and I give him his jersey. He gives me a weak smile. I knew something was definitely off. "So, Charlie how about when we get back to our room we can talk about what's getting you down? Agreed?" He finally actually smiles and nods. "Thanks Vi..." I smile at his response and I walk back over to Julie. I'm smiling and talking to Julie as she walks me back to my room. I get back into my room to see Charlie not there. I think nothing of it and I sit down and start reading. About 5 minutes later, Charlie walks in. "Hey Vi, I was just-" I know it was rude to interrupt him but he didn't need to explain himself "Charlie, it's alright. Let's just talk about what made you upset earlier." I smiled and closed the newspaper I was reading. "It's just that last year we were the 'Mighty Ducks' and now we're Team USA. It just doesn't feel right." I could tell the ducks meant a lot to him. "Look Charlie, I know it may not feel right but it'll feel right at some point. At some point you'll accept that you're on Team USA and once this is over, you can be the 'Ducks' again. Team USA is only temporary." He smiles at me. That smile always caught me off-guard. "Thanks Vi. You're the only one that understands. I bet it was hard to leave Maine...But thank you for coming to help us win and helping me most of all." He always knew what to say. I couldn't help but smile at him. I went up to him and hugged him. I couldn't help myself. It looked like he needed a hug. He ended up hugging back. I let go and I couldn't help it, I apologize. "Sorry, Charlie. It looked like you needed a hug." I give him a weak smile and he pulls me back into another hug. "Thanks Vi, I did need it." I felt my body getting hotter and hotter. We pulled out of the hug and headed to class. After all Ms.Mackay said if we don't attend we couldn't play. I needed to play. That's the whole reason I'm here. Once everyone got in their seats, we began the lesson. Ms.Mackay started talking, "Ancient Greece was the beginning of western civilization. See, in Greece, They didn't have professional sports...or wheaties boxes. So the athletes competed for another reason. Anybody?" Goldberg joked around "Falafels?" We all couldn't help but laugh. "Ohh. Greg." said a duck "You wish, Goldberg" Another added. Ms.Mackay asks "Charlie?" "Pride." Charlie answered confidently. Ms.Mackay added "That's right. The various city-states waved their flags and wore their home colors proudly." Fulton then asks our tutor "Did America always dominate?" "Fulton." A duck complains. "That's a good question." Another one adds "No. America wasn't around back then." Ms.Mackay answers. Fulton looks down in embarrassment. Ms.Mackay continues saying "Don't forget that compared to other countries, America is still young, still forming its own identity. America is a teenager, just like you." Jesse questions "Like us?" "You bet. A little awkward at times, but always right there on the verge of greatness." Ms. Mackay adds as she finishes up the lesson. We all went to the locker rooms and got on our needed pads and roller blades to practice with Coach. We sang while skating. Coach was on a vehicle telling us to keep up. We all jumped over the hill getting ahead of Coach. We all got back and started packing our stuff again. Getting ready to fly to Los Angeles. "Hey Vi, Could you get my toothpaste from the bathroom?" Charlie asks, I respond with a nod and I go get it. I come out of the bathroom to Charlie changing his shirt. I quickly covered my eyes. "Charlie, there's a bathroom for a reason!" "I know. But you were already there." Charlie replies "You couldn't wait? God tell me when you get a shirt on." I needed to respect Charlie by covering my eyes. "Vi, I got my shirt on like 2 minutes ago when you covered your eyes." I slowly uncover my eyes. I let out a deep breath and I handed Charlie his toothpaste. We were called out to the Limo and I sat next to Charlie and Julie. I put my hand to my side talking to Julie, When suddenly someone touches my hand. It was Charlie. My cheeks turn beet red and I turn towards Julie, talking to her once again. I didn't mind Charlie having his hand on mine. It just showed I had feelings for him. We finally got to the Airport and were on our way to Los Angeles.
