Do you love the Hunger Games? Ever wondered what it would be like if YOU were with your favourite boys? Well fear no more! I got you covered! Updates will be very frequent, so feel free to pop this in your library and start reading!
I do not own any...
Now don't we all love soulmate AU's? I definitely do. Depending on the story, of course.
So today I thought about making one.
Soulmate AU: In this, your soulmate and you share a red string. You both can tug on it in a sort of communication or Morse code. Now despite having soulmates, you can still date someone who isn't your soulmate. There are people without them, and it is possible to indeed break your string.
Warnings: Angst, and it being short. I haven't read a soulmate au that's depressing so let's get the show on the road!
Totally not me listening to Hamilton while I'm writing this.

There wasn't anything good about being soulmates with Peeta Mellark. The boy with bread. One of the male victors of District 12.
Despite you and him being close friends and confidantes, neither of you two made a push forward.
That was because neither of you two were aware of a red string that wrapped around both of your fingers. You were the first to notice.
You've had a feeling that Peeta figured out he got a string too, but perhaps wasn't aware of who his soulmate was.
And yet every time you've tried to tug the string to speak to him, he never seemed to notice.
Rather, continue to be close with Katniss.
What hurt the most was that you wore your heart on your sleeve. You always chose someone else's happiness over your own.
Hell, you even confided to Katniss, who was a close friend of yours as well. You never said who your actual soulmate was to Katniss, you couldn't bare to tell her.
She comforted you in her arms, lightly petting your hair. "Make him notice, no matter what happens." You couldn't imagine trying to communicate to someone who wasn't wishing to talk to you.

"Anyways, that's why I'll leave the baking to you from now on." You wiped your brow from your sleeve, getting rid of the excess sweat on your face.
Yeah, you and Peeta were baking more bread for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
And it wasn't like you two were distant. There were just moments where Peeta was too dense to realize you were hinting about his soulmate.
"Haha, alright then. But then you'll get to wrap the bread." Peeta gestured to some paper that you could put the finally cooled bread in.
"Fair enough." You remarked, getting the paper and stuffing the bread in. Your mind was racing, so you may or may not have accidentally broke the paper.
Peeta turned to look at you and your clouded eyes trailing over the bread, like a child confused on a test.
"Hey, everything ok?" Peeta asked, lightly gripping your hand, the warmth of his hand covering yours.
You turned to meet his eyes with yours. A lopsided smile grew on your face, as you quickly got yourself composed.
"Yeah, everything's all good, why do you ask?" You asked, regretting the last four words that decided to escape your lips. A ton of things could go wrong - including your secret of being his soulmate - and you felt your heart quicken.
Though what you didn't know was that Peeta never seen his string. Though he could assume it was there since something was always tugging at his fingers.
Not only that, but he was debating how to tell you. What if you didn't stay as friends with him anymore?
No, he doubted you would do that. He loved you, and you hopefully loved him.
And yet he didn't know what to do anymore. So he went over to Haymitch's, requesting a bottle of whiskey. Or vodka. He didn't know anymore. He just poured his thoughts into the cup.
It only took 3 shots. Seems like a distressed mind made it easier for the alcohol to take over your body.
And so Peeta stumbled out of the other male victor's house, and accidentally made his way to Katniss's place. At the same time, you and her were hanging out with each other.
It took you both by surprise when Peeta stumbled in, drunk as ever, and pressed his lips to Katniss. Katniss froze, not knowing what to do. You were in shock, you didn't know what to do.
Suddenly, your heart quickened. Not in a lovey dovey way, it was in an adrenaline way. You felt sadness fill up your poor heart, feeling a small tear prick your eye. Your heart was starting to fall of your sleeve once more, you were trying to build up the walls to stop the tears from making their way to your eyes.
Peeta pulled away and murmured, "I love you Katniss.." He slurred over his words.
They say a drunk's words are the truth, which genuinely hurt you. In a blur, you gripped your string tightly, trying to disconnect their lips from each other.
Peeta finally noticed and turned to look at you, half drunk.
"(Y/N), stop—"
His words were interrupted as you broke the red string that connected you two.
Suddenly Peeta saw the thin strand of red, flashing through his eyes, the two strands delicately flying in the air before disappearing. The tears finally left your eyes. Katniss's eyes held guilt and sadness, wishing she did something before Peeta made his move.
After a minute of everyone staring at each other, you got up from the couch, leaving the house, and not without colliding shoulders with both, slamming the door on your way out.
Peeta felt the same guilt you did when he kissed Katniss. He lightly shoved Katniss out of his arms before racing to god knows where you ran off to, calling out your name.
Though you never responded, and it didn't matter to you. You finally broke, and now you've lost the red string you've once adored and cherished.
And Peeta, too.
I'm probably not gonna upload anymore until this week is over, as I have some assignments I need to catch up on. Hopefully school's doing ok for everyone else!
Meme of the day: (not sorry)
