Warning: none

"Tommy?"

"Yes, Newt?"

"I want us to come out to our friends."

Thomas froze and looked at his boyfriend with widened eyes and a growing smile. Then he recollected himself, cleared his throat, put his math book he was studying in down onto Newts bed, got up out of that bed and walked over to his beautiful other half who stood at the dooropening, fiddling with his fingers. He took Newts hands into his and gave him a loving look, trying not to look as excited as he felt.

They have been dating for about six months now. Thomas wanted to tell everyone they were together since the second the words 'I like you' were spoken to each other.

But Newt was more careful about that. None of their friends knew he was gay, not even Thomas. That's why Thomas felt like he must have been on drugs when Newt admitted he liked Thomas.

But the reason why Newt hasn't come out to their friends, is because he was scared. Scared they'd have the same reaction as his father.

Newt looked back up and gave Thomas his broadest smile. Thomas smiled back and let go of his hands to put his arms around Newt and hugged him. Newt was quick to hug him back and hold him tight.

Not a word was spoken out loud, yet so many things were said.

I'll be right next to you.

Our friends will be accepting.

Everything is going to be just fine.

~Time jump~

Newt and Thomas were walking side by side in the hallway, on their way to their lockers. They arrived to Newts first.

"Are you sure you want to do this?", Thomas asked for the millionth time this morning. Not because he wasn't excited, but he wanted to make sure that Newt was 100% certain and ready to come out.

Newt rolled his eyes at him, but a small smile appeared on his lips.

"Yes, Tommy. One hundred percent sure", Newt answered. He closed his locker when he had everything he needed for the next classes and turned to Thomas. They looked at each other for a while, a smile playing on both their lips.

For a moment, they were lost in time. Everything around them dissapeared and it was only them. Newt roamed Thomas' face and his glance stuck at his mouth for a second. It made Thomas feel butterflies. Soon, they might be able to kiss in front of everyone.

Then, suddenly, Newts smile dissapeared and a frown took its place. He looked back up into Thomas' eyes, who was looking at Newt worriedly.

"I'm sorry", Newt whispered. Thomas was confused. "I'm sorry I made you wait so long. I'm sorry if I ever made you feel as though I wanted you to be a secret. I'm sorry--"

"Newt, you don't have to apologise. I understand", Thomas interupted. Newt grabbed Thomas' hand and looked him in the eyes pleadingly.

"Please, let me finish", Newt said. Thomas nodded and pretended to lock his mouth with a key and threw the pretend key away. It made Newt smile for a second before turning serious again. "I'm sorry I asked you to keep quiet about our relationship, while I knew you were so excited and wanted to tell everyone. I'm sorry if that ever made you feel unimportant. Or not important enough. But Tommy, I want you to know... You are the most important person in my life. You make me feel so happy and I'm so thankful to have you in my life. As my bestfriend and as my boyfriend. I want you--"

"Boyfriend??", a female voice suddenly shouted from behind them. Newt turned around so suddenly, he almost snapped his neck.

"Teresa! Hey! I didn't see you coming", Newt almost yelled.

"Yeah, I wonder how", Teresa said sarcastically but amused. "Now, tell me. Did I hear that correctly? You called Thomas your boyfriend?"

She regared Newt and then Thomas. Both of them blushing and Teresa knew she heard correctly, but she wanted to hear them say it.

"Uh.. y-yeah. You did. I called him my boyfriend. Because he is. We're together. Like, together together. We're a couple", Newt ranted.

For a moment, Teresa stayed silent and Newt felt his anxiety grow.

Why is she silent? Is she grossed out? Why isn't she saying anything? What is she thinking? Why is she just staring blankly at us like that? She's going to defriend me. She doesn't want to be my friend anymore. I shouldn't have--

"Are you really?", Teresa suddenly asked, excitement clear in her voice, altough she was trying so hard to contain it. She looked at Thomas, who nodded with the proudest and brightest smile someone could possibly muster.

Newt felt all his doubts and anxiety vanish. He realised he couldn't care any less what his friends thought about him, as long as Thomas was this proud and this happy to be with Newt, he could handle everything.

When Teresa looked at Newt for confirmation, he nodded and only then did she start to literally squeal.

"This is so great! We have to tell everyone!", she exclaimed excitedly, pulling both boys in a hug. Thomas was laughing out loud and Newt swore he never felt happier than he did at this moment. "No, but seriously. You guys are deserve each other so much. Really, you couldn't get a better boyfriend if you tried. Both of you."

She smiled fondly at them, her eyes sparkling with joy and her smile so wide and bright. Newt automatically matched it. He felt Thomas squeeze his shoulder.

"So when's the wedding?"

Thomas and Newt both burst out laughing at Teresa's comment.

"That's for the future, T", Thomas responded, giving Newt butterflies. He saw a future with him, and it made Newt the happiest guy to ever roam this planet.

Teresa opened her mouth to say something to that when the bell rang. She sighed.

"Damn it, always on the worst possible moments. I have to go, I have this really big test that I can't miss or else I can forget this diploma. We're talking about this at lunch." She made the I'm-watching-you-movement, making both Thomas and Newt laugh.

When she was gone, Newt turned towards Thomas.

"If everyone will react the way she just did, I'm going to be just fine", Newt said. Thomas smiled.

"Just fine?", he repeated.

"More than fine. I'd be the happiest bloody shank to ever walk this planet. I already am."

"And that's where you're wrong. Because that position is already taken."

"Oh yeah?", Newt playfully asked while leaning a little closer to Thomas.

"Yeah", Thomas said softly, matching Newts energy.

"By who?"

They were almost kissing. Just a little more. Newt was so sure he wanted to do this, is this crowdy hallway. Not a single doubt was going through his mind. Thomas was looking at him, a silent question visible in his eyes. Newt slightly nodded and closed the distance.

Thomas immediatly responded. He grabbed Newt's face with both hands and started kissing him properly. Newt felt the butterflies go crazy, he needed to remind himself that they were at school. In a crowded hallway. With people. Who were probably watching them. Who were undoubtably watching them.

But the way Thomas was kissing him.. it was easy to forget. But Newt didn't let it get that far.  He broke off the kiss before he lost all control and like he assumed; the entire hallway was watching them.

He just came out to the whole school.

And they were okay with it. Not one person made a nasty or rude comment, aside from the classic get a room! Newt smiled and couldn't stop smiling, looking at Thomas.

"By me. For sure."
