As I inhale shallow breaths
The screams from the other side
Fall upon my ears,
My eyes widen in fear.

I curl up into myself,
Wishing it to be a dream.
I want to stop the hurt,
But my body just curls tighter.

They keep at it,
They keep blaming,
Their eyes hold malice,
The words laced with venom.

I want to scream,
Tell them to stop,
But tears keep falling,
And my body seems frozen.
