A returning Echo

Chapter Twelve

Once back on the Venator, Tie was rushed to the medical ward to be more thoroughly examined. The medics didn't want you to be there, as it would be quite a long process, so they told you to go rest. You reluctantly did and found yourself back in your squad's sleeping quarters, where you looked at the two extra helmets that were on the empty bunks. You closed your eyes and let out a deep sigh. You only lost two men today, but how many more would you have lost if it was just your forces? And if you hadn't had enough men? You had barely made it out alive as it was. If Obi Wan hadn't shown up, you were certain everyone there would have been killed.

"You did all that you could, y/n," Sans said, walking over to wrap you in a hug. The rest of your squad followed his lead, joining in on a big group hug.

"I love you guys so much," you said to them.

A jumble of muffled, "we love you too's" met your ears as you stood there. Eventually, you all pulled apart, some of them going to find a refresher, others climbing into bed as they were. You sat on your own bed and opened your bag, looking for your shower supplies. You felt something soft and round inside and were confused for a second. Grabbing it, you let a small smile come to your lips as you pulled out Marvin. Holding him, you came up with an idea. Forgetting about your plans to shower, you stood up and left the room, sneaking down the hall to find the quarters where the 501st were staying.
To your luck, when you felt through the force, no one was in the room. You bit down a grin as you stepped in, closing the door behind you. You looked around, trying to find where Echo would be sleeping. Spotting his armor neatly piled on his bunk, you quietly made your way over. He was staying on the top bunk, so you had to climb up to reach it. You didn't want to invade on his personal space by crawling on his bed, so you decided to stand on the steps as you placed Marvin near his pillow.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" You shrieked and jumped at the sudden intrusion, losing your grip from being startled. Fives chuckled as he watched you tumble to the floor.

"Sneaking around your boyfriends bedroom now?"

"Wha-no! I was just...leaving a little surprise," you said defensively, rubbing your elbow that had hit the floor.

"You know, usually you wait to sleep in their bed until they invite you to."

"I wasn't going to get in his bed!"

"Whatever you say," he said while walking over to you. He gave you a smug look as he offered you his hand. You took it while squinting at him, untrusting of his actions.

"Aww, is this your little adiik?" He said, grabbing Marvin and squeezing him.

"Yes, now put him back, it's a surprise for Echo!"

"Alright, calm down, General," he laughed, putting the stuffed porg back where you had left him. "You sticking around to give him a kiss goodnight?"

"No, I have to go clean up. I just wanted to sneak in here real fast and leave Marvin for him."

"Well, I'll let you go then," Fives said, walking over to his bunk. "Have a goodnight, y/n," he called as you waved and left the room. A few minutes later, Echo wandered in and Fives watched as he climbed onto his bed, pausing before a grin split his face. He let out a small chuckle as he grabbed Marvin, admiring the stuffed animal in front of him.

"I scared her when she dropped it off," Fives commented, drawing his brothers attention.

"Him, not it," Echo said. "His name is Marvin."

Fives rolled his eyes at his brother. "You're ridiculous," he laughed.

"I'm not ridiculous," he said before burying his face in the stuffed animal. It smelled like you, and he wanted to fill his senses with it. "I'm in love," he mumbled to himself, though he said it loud enough that Fives heard and grinned at his brothers confession. Echo pushed his armor to the side before he crawled under the sheets and laid down, squeezing Marvin to his chest as he fell asleep, hoping to have dreams of you instead of the normal nightmares.
